Father and son drown in Kalinga; wife missing

TABUK CITY -- A father and his
son drowned while the former's wife remained missing after they were swept away
by the strong current of a swollen river in Kalinga province during heavy rains
afternoon of Oct. 27, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Council reported on Monday.
The NDRRMC identified the
fatalities as Alejandro Tabbang, 50, and Alejandro Jr., 12, whose bodies were
retrieved Oct. 28, along the river bank in SitioTomiangan, Barangay Dupak,
Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The bodies now lie in state at
TampcoFurenaria, Barangay Bulanao, Tabuk City.
Still missing is Evangeline
Tabbang, 52.
In its belated report, the NDRRMC
said that the three victims were crossing the Tanudan River when they were
carried away by floodwater at around 1 p.m. on Oct. 27.
Tanudan is a remote municipality
of Kalinga province.
The NDRRMC said search and rescue
operations are ongoing for the missing Evangeline.
