Apayao bocap nabbed for shooting HS stude

CONNER, Apayao - A 46-year old barangay captain here is now in hot water for after he allegedly shot a 15-year old high school student here in Barangay Buluan in this town  Tuesday morning.

Senior Supt. Albertlito S. Garcia, Apayao provincial director identified the suspect as Mario Dueg Dognayon while the victim was identified as Mods Tabula Abawag, both residents of Buluan.

Before his arrest, Dognayon together with his tanod tried to flag down the victim Monday evening in a barangay checkpoint.

The victim, who was driving his motorcycle reportedly ignored them prompting the suspect to shoot the latter, hitting him on the right arm.

Abawag was rushed to the Saint Paul Hospital, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan while the suspect escaped from the crime scene and eluded arrest.

The cal .45, pistol, Astra which was used by the suspect was later surrendered by municipal councilor Nicolas Abawag.

A manhunt operation was immediately conducted that resulted in the arrest of Dognayon in Barangay Calafug, Conner and is now under custody of the Conner municipal police station.

A case for violation of election gun ban under Comelec Resolution 9561-A is now being prepared against the suspect.
