Charges filed vs Asingan ‘bad teacher’

ASINGAN, Pangasinan — A teacher at Tuboy Elementary School, here, was criminally charged in court Monday for allegedly inflicting physical harm on a six-year-old pupil, who came home July 12 with a busted lip and bruised legs.

Police investigators and barangay officials said they will assist the family of the little boy in filing charges against Grade 1 teacher Cresencia Vargas, a neighbor of the victim who was allegedly spanked repeatedly in the legs and feet with a sandal and slapped in the face.

“Naiyak ako at naaawa sa aking anak kung bakit inabot niya ito sa isang guro (I wept and felt pity for my son for what he endured in the hands of a teacher),” said the boy’s mother, Ema (not her real name).
