LAGAWE, Ifugao--
Provincial officials here made an ordinance establishing to increase
literacy of school children through its “educational assistance program.”
Under this, one teacher per barangay
shall be hired by the province to teach in public elementary or secondary
level especially in remote schools where there are no available teachers.
The provincial government said this
program will reduce the problem on lack of teachers, extend alternative
solution to some schools with crowded classrooms having only one teacher and
reduce unemployment.
The provincial
ordinance stated that there will be an annual appropriation of P1 million to
cover the first year of implementation and any adjustment in number of teachers
and increase in budget shall be
recommended by the local chief executive and human resource management office
when the need arises or when local funds are subjected for review and approval
by the SangguniangPanlalawigan.
