Teller ‘steals’ P43M winning lotto ticket from Bontoc teacher

BONTOC, Mountain Province – A
winning lotto ticket was allegedly stolen from its owner, a public school
teacher here last week by a lotto teller.
A police report said the theft
transpired at about 3:30 p.m. of June 21 at the lotto outlet located at a
commercial building owned by the provincial government below the provincial
capitol.
Initial investigation disclosed
the 6/42 Lotto winning tickets of Cristina Tibawen Cocoy, 56, married, resident
of Barangay Tocucan was allegedly stolen by Jane Santos, 28, single, lotto
teller and resident of Poblacion.
Cocoy reportedly went to check if
the combination numbers of her lotto tickets had the winning numbers and gave
Santos her four lotto tickets for verification.
The teller verified the six
combination numbers and it appeared that it won the jackpot amounting to
P43,000,000 astonishing the teller and the complainant.
At that juncture, complainant
immediately collected her tickets without checking the same before leaving the
area.
Later on, victim checked her
lotto tickets and found out that the winning tickets were already missing
believed stolen by the teller.
Victim returned back immediately
to the lotto outlet and confronted the teller about the incident but the latter
denied the allegation.
