BSU rules CAR universities’ Apayao socio-cultural meet

LUNA, Apayao– Delegates from the Benguet
State University ruled this year’s Cordillera Administrative Region Association
of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) socio-cultural competition
here at Luna municipal gymnasium here
last week.
BSU grabbed overall championship of the
competition with an accumulated score of 86 points followed by surprise
runner-up, Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) with 78
points with the biggest surprised pulled out by Apayao State College (ASC)
which jumped from a mere seventh place last year to third place this year with
a total score of 70 points.
Ifugao State University (IFSU) placed fourth
with 64 points, Kalinga-Apayao State College (KASC) landed in fifth with 53
pints while Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) placed sixth
overall with 43 points.
In Filipino folk dance category BSU emerged
the champion followed by ASC, ASIST and IFSU while in the indigenous ethic
dance, IFSU again emerged the champion followed by BSU, KASC and MPSPC.
In choral singing, BSU topped the competition
followed by KASC, ASC and IFSU while KASC topped the vocal solo followed by
ASIST, BSU and ASC.
In vocal duet, ASIST grabbed the first place
followed by KASC, BSU and ASC while in the instrumental solo, ASC bagged the
championship followed by ASIST, IFSU and BSU.
ASIST also bagged the championship in the pop
solo followed by KASC and ASC while the entry of BSU topped the Mr. CARASUC
followed by IFSU and ASC.
The entry of IFSU ran away with the crown in
the MS. CARASUC search followed by ASIST and BSU.
IFSU dominated the hip hop dance category
followed by ASIST and BSU while in the contemporary dance, ASIST emerged the
winner followed by IFSU and BSU.
IFSU topped the on the spot painting contest
followed by MPSPC and BSU while ASIST dominated the charcoal rendering followed
by BSU and MPSPC.
In Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, ASIST came out the
winner followed by ASC and BSU while in the essay writing contest English
category, BSU edged out ASC and ASIST.
BSU topped the Dagliang Talumpati followed by
IFSU and ASC while ASIST won the Pagkukuwento followed by KASC and ASC.
BSU topped extemporaneous speech followed by
MPSPC and KASC while BSU also dominated the story telling followed by ASIST and
KASC.
Lastly, ASC bested the
six SUCs in the Quiz Bowl followed by IFSU and KASC.
Rep. Eleanor
Bulut-Begtang and Gov. Elias C. Bulut hosted the nearly 1,000 participants of
the socio-cultural competition which was highlighted by the Governor’s Night
that served as the reunion of all the officials and students from the participating
SUCs. The University of the Philippines College Baguio was not able to send its
delegation for this year’s competition.
Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon,
ASC president, expressed his gratitude to all the participants of the
competition and more importantly to the provincial and municipal officials of
Apayao and the ASC family for sacrificing their time, effort and resources in
hosting the event for the first time, saying that it served as an exposure for
