Igorots, Cordillerans now in top PNP

DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Igorot and Cordilleran policemen with ranks of
police general are now occupying key positions in the Philippine National
Police organization.
Added to the list recently, one bemedalled Igorot
police officer has been promoted to one-star general during the donning of
ranks on January 19 was Chief Supt. Benjamin Macli-ing Lusad of Philippine
Military Academy Class 1985, the Executive Officer of the PNP Directorate for
Operations. Lusad hails from Bontoc, Mountain Province.
The highest ranking Igorot police officer is
Deputy Director General Francisco Uyami Jr, the pride of Ifugao with rank of
3-star followed by Director Wilfredo
Franco, an officer with Ibaloi blood , currently Director for Police
Community Relations and Baguio boy Benjamin Magalong who is currently Director
for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), both with rank of 2-star.
Included in the list are Isagani Nerez,
Director for Integrated Police Operations, Eastern Mindanao; Chief Supt. Robert
Po, Director of Communications Electronic Service and Chief Supt. Alexander A.
Pumecha who retired August 26, 2015.
The Cordillera Police Regional Office acting
regional director Chief Supt. Ulysses J. Abellera, is also an Igorot with a
vast experience in intelligence and operation who was promoted to one star rank
on May 5, 2014.
Abellera said the PNP maintains that rank and
promotion are not rewards of what was done well, but recognition that each PNP
personnel has potential to do more for good governance as proven by Igorot and
Cordilleran generals.
He said PRO-COR is now accepting new
applicants, like qualified new college graduates to enter the service and make
a difference as one of the prides of Cordillera.
Cop, 2 cohorts, arrested for holdup of
gold buyer
BAGUIO
CITY — A police officer from Ninoy
Aquino International Airport with his two alleged cohorts, were arrested here
Thursday after being involved in the robbery- holdup of a gold buyer the
previous day. According to city police chief Senior Supt. George Daskeo, the
suspect identified as Special Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Pilapil Daming Jr.,
Michael Kahipo Catugna, and Efren Deallia Sidatantes were arrested after
robbing Gina Captura Estole’s store, Gina Trading Gold Buy and Sell in
Upper Magsaysay Avenue.
3 dead in Nueva Ecija road mishap

ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Three persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed when
a sport utility vehicle hit their tricycle along the highway here on Tuesday.
Mary Jane Garcia, 38; her daughter Juvy Ann,
14, and tricycle driver Mark Anthony Gabriel, 22, suffered head injuries and
died at the scene, said Senior Superintendent Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police
director.
Police Officer 4 Jun Adalem said a Mitsubishi
Montero driven by Army Capt. Jose Reyes Jr. struck the tricycle. Reyes

Actor Baron Geislerin Pampanga

CITY, Pampanga – A man suffered serious
injuries when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a sport utility
vehicle (SUV) being driven by actor Baron Geisler here in Barangay Balibago
Wednesday night.
Jioly Rigor, 58, a resident of Barangay Dau,
Mabalacat, Pampanga was brought to a hospital for treatment.
Senior Superintendent Sidney Villaflor,
Angeles City police director, said they filed charges against Geisler, who was
reportedly drunk when the incident occurred.
Last year, Geisler also figured in a pre-dawn
road accident in Pasig City.
Geisler’s SUV was wrecked after it collided

Unjust vexation case filed against
Baguio grocery owner
BAGUIO
CITY – A case of unjust vexation was filed against the owner of a business
establishment here along vicinity of public market. .Police said the incident
happened Monday around 6:37 pm. inside Ever Trading Grocery at 1st Kayang
Street. Complainant was identified as Macrael Lucas Raymundo, 23, account
specialist of San Miguel Corp. and a resident of Barangay Buttong Laoag City,
Ilocos Norte. The suspect was their customer, named as Erwin Ortega, owner of
Ever Trading Grocery.
Investigation disclosed that while the
complainant was booking orders, the suspect suddenly confronted him regarding a
business matter.
While they were talking, suspect reportedly
cornered him at the bodega area where he was accused of being a liar
while pointing fingers at him. Complainant said the suspect provoked him
into a fistfight by pushing and boxing him but he didn’t fight back.
Later, the suspect reportedly threatened to
destroy his reputation with his company. The complainant ignored Ortega and
left but the suspect followed and pushed him again near the counter. While
pointing fingers the suspect uttered invectives like, “P-tang ina, bastos yan a
kinakausap ka.” The complainant left and filed a case at police station.
2 Kalinga rebel returnees get
gov’t financial help

CITY, Kalinga -- Two former rebels received recently financial assistance from
government to start normal life.
Gemma Bawanta of the Department of Interior
and Local Government (DILG) said P67, 700.00 given to each rebel returnee was
made possible under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the Aquino
administration.
This is broken down to P2, 700.00 for
administrative cost; P15, 000.00 for immediate assistance, and P50, 000 for
financial assistance.
The monetary value of their surrendered

Abra reports first gun ban violator
BANGUED,
Abra - - The police station here recorded the first violation of Commission on
Elections gun ban in the province.
The violator identified as Maximo B. Ascano,
66, of this capital town was apprehended Jan. 21 while attending a wake.
The apprehension was easily conducted with
the help of a concerned citizen who texted cops.
The Bangued PNP headed by Supt. Hendrix
Borillo-Mangaldan is now preparing the filing charges against Ascano.
Meanwhile, members of the Joint Provincial
Security Control Center composed of Atty. Mae Richelle B. Beronilla, provincial
Election supervisor, Senior Supt. Antonio P. Bartolome, PNP provincial director

Treasurer forced to give money
withoutokay of b’gay chairman
BAGUIO
CITY – A barangay treasurer here was hurt when a resident threw a motorcycle
helmet at him Jan. 28 at about 10:15 a.m. Police said the incident happened
inside the Campo Filipino barangay hall wherein the victim was identified as
Henry John Nagun Nueva, 27. The suspect was named as WindelMahiposMasacal, of
legal age, resident of the mosque in same barangay.
Investigation disclosed that the victim was
inside his office when the suspect together with a certain Abdul Malic, former
barangay treasurer arrived and for no apparent reason, threw a helmet at the
victim hitting his face. To avoid escalating the problem, the victim gave to
Malic P6,240 honorarium he was asking earlier from him. The victim earlier told
them that the money must first be approved by their barangay chairman before it
will be released. The suspect and Malic left.
The victim later went to the Baguio Gen.
Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. He was accompanied by Joel A. Omar,
barangay chairman to Police Station 1 where he said he is no longer interested
in filing a case against the suspect considering that they were brothers in
Islam faith, and they will try to settle the problem among themselves with the
director of Almaarif Mosque in their barangay.
Vendor collared for stealing cell
phone
A
vendor was jailed after he was seen by a cop stealing the cell phone of a
student Monday at around 2:30 p.m. here at Lower Zandueta Street. The victim
was identified as Angelica Jane Seguin Bugayong, 13, while the suspect was
named as Elmer Lupian Negrillo, 24.
Investigation disclosed the victim was walking when the suspect
followed her and stole her cellular phone, a Samsung GT 18730 valued at
P6,000.00 which she kept at the right side pocket of her jacket. The incident was
actually seen by PO1 Armando Laureano, of Police Station 7, BCPO prompting him
to arrest the suspect and recover the gadget .
Bontoc government employees mauled
BONTOC,
Mountain Province – A civilian reported to police a case of physical injuries
which transpired Tuesday around 2:05 a.m. along the junction road fronting
Chico building here at Poblacion. Cops immediately responded and brought
the victims to the Bontoc General Hospital. They were known as Denver P.
Lumbag, 30, Barangay Balili and Marcelino C. Accab, 35, of Dantay, Alab Proper,
both government employees.
Investigation revealed the victims with
Loyd T. Banglo and Kevin C. Feng were on their way home when a group
of men, one of them holding a stick, followed them and for no reason
hit the victims and ran towards unknown direction. Lumbag was wounded on
his right ear while Accab was fractured on his right leg and wounded
on his upper lip. Cops are trying to identify their assailants.
Reporter loses motorcycle to thief

Kalinga – One Jesse Bongabong, 54, provincial jail guard reported to cops that
that on Jan. 30 about 12:45 p.m. a black motorcycle, owned by Jeronimo Caymo
was stolen by unidentified person here at Sitio Kapanikiyan, Barangay Camalog.
Investigation conducted disclosed that the
owner of the vehicle, an unidentified reporter parked the motorcycle along the
national road and went to his farm, about 60 meters away from the road, to take
a bath, When he came back, he found out that the said motorcycle was already
missing. He tried to locate it to no avail, said investigator SPO4 LeoncioPagtud.
Tricyle driver arrested in drug
buy-bust operation

CITY, Kalinga – A tricycle driver was arrested here in a buy-bust operation
Monday around 12:30 noon at Purok 2, Barangay Bulanao. The suspect was
identified as Virgilio Cruz Rosadino, 45, of
Guyabano St., San Vicente, Caloocan City, Metro Manila. The operation
resulted to the seizure of five plastic sachets containing white
crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” weighing 25 grams and valued at
P200, 000. The bait money was recovered.
The inventory of the seized items
was done on site in the presence of the suspect, Barangay Kagawad Rogelio
Marcelino and ReynaldoTejano of DZRK Radyo ng Bayan Tabuk. The arrested
suspect and the seized items were brought to provincial police office for
interrogation.
Three men nabbed for guns, illegal
drugs

CITY – Cops nabbed three men for violation of the gun ban and for allegedly
having in their possession illegal drugs.
A police report said the incident happened
Tuesday around 1:40 a.m. along Quirino Highway, San Roque Village here opposite
the road below Club Miles. The report said cops arrested the three men aboard a
black Toyota Revo vehicle. The arrested persons were Peter JunardDizon, 34, a
seaman; Sonny Dumo Soriano, 36, businessman and Ken Dela Cruz Jadormio, 34,
unemployed.
Police while patrolling the road spotted yhe
vehicle parked on no parking portion of the road with its driver’s side window
partly opened. The patrollers approached to check the car and saw the person
seated at the back identified later as Jadormio who took a short firearm from
his waist and threw it on the back seat. The firearm was later described as a
stainless, Cal. 22 handgun. When the car was searched, police
found suspected marijuana and shabu. The three suspects were arrested were
brought topolixe station for investigation.
Tricycle driver arrested for
frustrated murder

Abra – Ilocos Norte and Abra cops arrested a tricycle driver for frustrated
murder Monday around 11 a.m. The suspect was identified as FlorSallacupRavina,
46. He was arrested at Poblacion following warrant issued against him by Jose
C. Pilar, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region,
Branch 19, Bangui, Ilocos Norte.
Pilar
recommended P200,000 for Ravina’s temporary liberty.
Tricyle driver, rider injured after
truck overtakes them
TAYUM,
Abra -- An Elf truck sidewiped tricycle here Monday around 1:30 p.m. which
resulted to injuries of the latter driver and his rider. A police report said
the incident transpired along Abra-Kalinga road in Barangay Deet here. The
report said the tricyle driven by Romnick Mensigan Valera, 28, and his
rider Mark Vincent Brioso Pastores, 21, were traversing the road when the
truck sideswiped their vehicle. Investigation disclosed the tricycle was going
south when the truck coming from behind allegedly overtook, hitting the
motorcycle handle bar causing it to turn upward. Both riders were rushed to
rural health unit by responding cops. The tricycle incurred undetermined cost
of damages.
Hungduan councilor, driver hurt in
vehicle collision
HUNGDUAN,
Ifugao – A municipal councilor here and the driver of the tricycle he was
riding in were injured when theirt vehicle was bumped by a Honda RMX along the
national road at Barangay Hapao around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigation disclosed that both vehicles
were cruising opposite directions when at Hulung-na, Hapao, Hungduan, Buyagawon
suddenly veered to the opposite lane and rammed the sidecar of the other vehicle resulting
itoamages on both vehicles and wounding Bugatti, 59 and Buyagawon who was
thrown on the pavement.
The driver of other vehicle and concerned
residents immediately brought the injured to Hungduan District Hospital. Dr.
Gina Buyuccan said the the driver of the
veeriong vehicle was under the influence of liquor.

Clemente T. Uyami, retired fire inspector about the incident so they proceeded
and found out a Honda motorized tricycle (water delivery) owned by one
AldrinCumti and driven by Anastacio Bumidang Jr., 22, employee of the Inumon
water refilling station, bumped the rear portion of the Honda tricycle driven
by Clemente Uyami. arties involved agreed that the damage of the tricycle of

Angry Pudtol gov’t employee jumps jeep
driven by husband; dies

Apayao – A female municipal employee jumped from a passenger jeep driven by her
husband here Monday around 8:30 a.m. resulting to her death.
Police said the incident happened along the
national highway at the boundary of Upper and Lower Maton. The victim was
identified as Glecy P. Balaweg, 29 employee of Pudtol local government. Investigation
showed she jumped outside from the passenger jeepney without plate number owned
and driven by her husband Freddie B. Balaweg, 34. Both were residents of
Barangay Cacalaggan here.
According to the other passengers, they
noticed that the victim was very angry at her husband while
inside the vehicle and she told her husband to stop the
vehicle but her husband did not hear what she said. Moments later, the
victim suddenly jumped outside while the vehicle was in motion. The other
passengers reportedly earlier tried to prevent her from jumping but she managed
to jump outside and fell on the road pavement. Paassengers immediately rushed
her to AmmaJadsac District Hospital at Poblacion where she was pronounced dead
on arrival by the attending physician. The victim suffered abrasions on
different parts of her body and internal brain hemorrhage.
5-year-old drowns in La Paz well
La
Paz, Abra – A 5-year-old pupil died when he fell on a well and drowned here
Monday around 10 a.m. Investigation
disclosed Roy victim MatiasOca, daycare pupil of Benben Primary
School, went home because they had no class. Oca ate his lunch and went back to
the school. While on his way back to school, he saw his half-sister, Judy Ann
Gragasin, 12, and his cousin, Glory
Baldemor, fetching water from a well near their school.
The victim tried to
help his sister but he was told by her to stay away. While Granasin and
Baldemor were lifting the pail of water from the well, the victim went back and
accidentally slipped and fel on the well. Concerned citizens got the victim
from the well and brought him to Abra
Provincial Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending
physician.
