LUBUAGAN, Kalinga --
Despite unilateral ceasefire declared by the Philippine government and national
Democratic Front of the Philippines, the Armed Forces of the Philippines had
been violating these.
The New People’s Army
bared this saying the 501st Infantry Battalion had no let-up in its operations
against communist forces in Kalinga.
The NPA said the
military had been holding anti-insurgency operations here in Western Uma since
Dec. 26.
Despite clamor of
people in the area for the military to move out, they have reportedly been
staying in homes and public facilities and trying to put up a detachment.
Army troops under the
501st Brigade also reportedly launched operations Aug. 8 in Balantoy, Balbalan
town.
On Tuesday, elements
of the 50th IB also reportedly held operations against the NPA in barangays
Apatan and Limos in Pinukpuk town , two days before the second round of peace
talks will be held in Rome, Italy.
