Mt Province studes receive cash grants

Province –The Mountain Province Student Financial Assistance Program of the provincial government continuous to
benefit deserving students willing to
finish their studies despite financial constraints.
A special
program of the provincial government, the MPSFAP caters to poor but deserving
students of the province enrolled at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic
College and other educational
institutions within and outside Mountain Province. Each qualified grantee
receives P4, 000 financial aid per semester.
The basis
of the selection of grantees is on
financial capacity of parents, number of children in the family and status of the applicant like being a orphan
or working student are primarily considered.
Recently,
more than 300 grantees studying at MPSPC- Bontoc and Tadian Campus,
Xijen College, and nearby provinces to include those studying in Benguet, Baguio
City, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Ifugao received their financial
assistance.
During the
distribution of the financial aid to the beneficiaries, Gov. Bonifacio C.
Lacwasan, Jr. cited importance of education in achieving one’s endeavor in life
and uplifting family out of poverty.
The
governor encouraged the grantees to do their best in school so they can avail
of the program until they graduate.
He advised
beneficiaries to use the money they receive as payment for their unpaid tuition
fees and the things they need in school.
A grantee
who started to avail of the program when he was in his first year college until
he graduated this year expressed his gratitude to the provincial government.
According to him, the P4,000.00 financial aid he received every semester was a
big help for the payment of his tuition.
Simonette
Clyde Fang-san of the office of the governor said submission of application to
be renewed and included as a grantee next semester will start in August.
New
applicants are required to submit application letter to be included as grantee
addressed to the governor, application form available at the office of the
governor, true copy of grades and certificate of enrollment.
Grantees
who are willing to be renewed must submit their true copy of grades and
certificate of enrollment.
Also, a
grantee of the program must finish the course taken in the expected number of
years for the course, must be currently enrolled and attend activities organized for MPSFAP grantees.
An
applicant or a grantee can be disqualified or removed from the list if he/she
has a failing grade and does not submit all the requirements before the
deadline of submission.
