Construction worker nearly kills two cops

BAGUIO CITY – A construction worker was arrested for firing his gun at two cops and nearly killing them here Wednesday around5 a.m. along Magsaysay Ave. in front of Baguio Country Sounds, a live band entertainment establishment.

The suspect was identified as Geremy Wahayan Tarapen, 25, of Tabuk City, Kalinga.

 Investigation disclosed the suspect just came out from BCS,  brought out a Cal. 45 pistol, pointed upward and fired four times. PO3 Joemer Altiga and PO3 Julius Liis wearing civilian clothes who happened to pass witnessed the incident and accosted him Tarapen.

When they identified themselves as police officers, he fired three times towards Altiga but missed until his gun ran out of bullets. The suspect hit Altiga with the gun causing injuries on his forehead.

A public order safety division member assisted police in apprehending the suspect and immediately brought him to Station 2 where he was jailed.

Confiscated from the suspect aside from the gun were two magazines, eight bullets and four empty shells of said caliber.
