Retired miner found dead on Loakan Airport

BAGUIO CITY – A retired miner was found lifeless here Monday around 2:30 p.m. at a grassy portion of Loakan Airport. The body was identified as Condrado Pedro Carantes, 78, of Number 24 Purok Sadjo Loakan Proper. He was found lifeless by his nephew Benjamin  Pilanta Solano, 53, farmer.
Police said the body was in advanced state of decomposition. The family of the subject executed a waiver not to undergo autopsy since they believed the victim died due to illness, claiming that their father was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and Alzheimer’s. The remains of the victim was brought to Bahay Damayan for a wake.

Apayao tanod wanted for rape

CONNER, Apayao -- Police have launched a manhunt for a village watchman here for allegedly raping and molesting two girls.
Rape and sexual molestation charges were filed against Bobby Cudiyen, 47, of Barangay Ili before the Department of Justice Wednesday, said Chief Insp. Carol Lacuata, Cordillera police spokesperson. 
Cudiyen allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in a forested area in Barangay Baricawen sometime in August 2015. He was also accused of mashing the genitals and breasts of a 10-year-old girl whom he brought to a river in October last year.

 Drunk man nabbed for burning own house

CAOAYAN, Ilocos Sur-A 22-year-old jobless man was arrested after he set their own house on fire the other night in Barangay Puro, this town.
Police report showed Stephen Rebola was then creating trouble with his family and drunk when the incident happened.
To avoid further misunderstanding, his mother Lucia, widower, left the suspect alone in their house and sought refuge with their relatives.
But this further irked the suspect who then burned their bungalow house.
"Several minutes later, their neighbor, Beatriz Amicay saw the house of the victim (Lucia Rebola) was already on fire prompting her to seek assistance with the neighborhood wherein concerned residents were able to extinguish the growing fire," said a police report.
Other valuables burned with still undetermined cost included passports, P5,000 cash, two pass books and one tablet, the report added. – Myds Supnad

 Jobless man stabbed dead by elder brother

MANKAYAN, Benguet -- A jobless man was stabbed by his elder brother here Monday at their residence. Police said the incident happen ed around 6:45 a.m. in Sitio Magangan, Barangay Guinaoang. The victim was named as Oliver Matias Suyag, 31, while the suspect was his brother Nestor, 35, farmer. Investigation disclosed the suspect stabbed the victim on his with a kitchen knife during a heated argument. 
The victim was rushed to Lutheran Hospital in nearby Buguias town by police but he was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jeraldine Kadatar. The suspect was arrested.

Drug surrenderees shot dead in Santiago

SANTIAGO, Isabela -- Drug surrenderees Leo Ariel de la Cruz, 52, an alleged member of a robbery syndicate, and Leonardo Lanoria, 47, were killed while drinking liquor with their friends here in Barangays Rizal and Bannawag, respectively when they were shot at close range by still unidentified gunmen. Cesar Justin Flores, 10, was hit by a stray bullet when Lanoria was shot. The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Two stabbed inside Baguio computer shop 

BAGUIO CITY – Two persons were stabbed here inside Zhoihar Internet Gaming along Session Road Monday around 11:40 a.m. which resulted to countercharges between the two parties.
A certain Justine Kyl C. Doctolero was reportedly inside the computer shop when Leonard Rey Nacua, 18; Leopoldo Nacua, 36 and Eunico Arestorenas Eulin, 18, entered and asked if he was “Justine” to which he said yes. Following this, Leonard, Leopoldo and Eunico aided one another in mauling Doctolero until he allegedly brought out a knife from his back pack and stabbed Leopoldo and Eunico.
On the other hand, Leonard claimed that, he and Eunico went near Justine and asked him in vernacular “Bakit ikaw ba yung nagbabanta sa pinsan ko (referring to Leopoldo Nacua)?
Justine allegedly answered he didn’t know whom he was referring to. 
He claimed that when Eunico entered the computer shop, he met Justine and he suddenly felt something on his chest and noticed that there was already blood on his t-shirt.
Consequently, Eunico went near the two but was stabbed on his left upper arm. The weapon used was embedded on the arm of Eunico which he removed. Leopoldo and Eunico were rushed at BGHMC by their companions where they were confined.

Man shot by gun he found along road 

BAGUIO CITY – A man was accidentally shot by a gun he found here along Liteng Street, Pacdal Monday around 3:40 p.m. The victim, identified as Mhar Bagayao Garci, 20, was fixing their water source when he found a Cal. 9 mm.p istol along grassy portion of the road.
Garci tucked the gun on his waist and proceeded to Police Station 3 to surrender it. Along the way, he accidentally pulled the trigger and a bullet hit his left leg. The victim was rushed by his relatives to Baguio General Hospital for treatment. His relative Norberto Digway Marcos turned over the firearm with magazine with no bullets. Doctors Miguel Reyes and Meljann De Vera advised the victim to have his foot operated on.

P11-K lost in Andok’s ‘stabbing,’ a mystery  

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A still unidentified thief allegedly stabbed a food handler at Andok’s Lechon establishment along km 6, Barangay Betag here Monday around 4:30 a.m. but managed to get away under mysterious circumstances. 
According to food handler Peter Butdoy Dango Jr, 27, the male suspect was around 5’9” in height, wearing maroon jacket, maong pants, black rubber shoes, short hair, slim and had dark complexion.
The suspect reportedly went to the establishment and pretended to be a member of audit team. The suspect then went inside and began checking records while the victim was fixing things inside the stock room when the suspect suddenly stabbed the victim on his chest but the knife was flat and was unable to penetrate.
The victim allegedly fought back, disarmed the suspect and reported the incident to nearby police station 2.
Dango was reportedly accompanied by police but when they went back, the suspect was already gone. A police report didn’t say if the thief was tied by Dango before he went to the police station to report the incident.
The collection worth P11,000 placed on top of the table wrapped with plastic bag was reportedly missing. Three fingerprints prints were lifted from the establishment. No CCTV was found installed at the vicinity. 

 Farmer accused of  rape in Baggao

BAGGAO, Cagayan -- Farmer Danilo Gamundoy Jr., 24, was accused of raping his 16-year-old neighbor at a cornfield here in Sitio Ugis, Barangay Agaman. 
Gamundoy reportedly dragged the victim into a field while she was picking vegetables and raped her. Meanwhile, in Abra, Teddy Lunes, 76, was nabbed at his house in Barangay Lagben, Langilang for concubinage.

 Tourists robbed by young man in Kabayan

KABAYAN, Benguet – A young man was turned over by a women resident here Monday to the local police station for allegedly stealing personal things of tourists.
Sylvia Tam-ing Guinsiman, 33, here of Babadak, Bashoy who said the robbery happened around 2 to 9 a.m. on August 6 turned over to police Cito Palitog Sana-oy, 19,  of Babadak who allegedly stole the following items from tourists: cell phone owned by  Donald Tan, P2,000 cash owned by Kenrod Uctidivla; speaker, bull cup, short pants and sleeping cover owned by Jason Ijan; T-shirt, and three underwear for men owned by Eugene Cadalo and solar panel with charger worth P2,000 owned by Guinsiman.
The tourists were reportedly not interested in filing a case against Sana-oy and had left for Manila. The items under police custody will be returned to the victims through a certain Carlo Tolentino.

Men wanted in Abra for murder arrested 

BANTAY, Ilocos Sur –Abra and Ilocos police arrested B-Jay Asuncion Pascual, 23, of Matedtedted, Immuli, Pidigan, Abra for murder after warrant was issued by Raphiel F. Alzate, executive and presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 1, Bangued, Abra.
On same day in Matedtedted, three wanted persons in connection to the murder were arrested. They were named as ) Roy Asuncion Laureta, 38; Sam Asuncion Laureta, 39 and Wilson Asuncion Laureta a.k.a. Pittong, 33 all residents of same barangay.
Alzate didn’t recommend bail for the accused.

 P1.8 million bail set for female inmate 

BAGUIO CITY – An arrested warrant was served at the city jail here Monday against a female inmate for syndicated large scale estafa.
This, after arrest warrant was  issued by judge Maria Ligaya V. Itliong-Rivera of RTC 5, Baguio City and Judge Cecilia Corazon S. Dulay-Archog of RTC 6 against Herminia Sukil-ap Pagaduan 42, of Botiwtiw Ambiong La Trinidad, Benguet.
The judge set total bail bond of P1.8 million and P60,000 for the accused.

 Driver arrested for rape in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested Agos Ferrer, 56, driver, at his home here in 107 Sta. Escolastica for rape after Mona Lisa V. Tiongson-Tabora, presiding judge of RTC 7, Baguio City issued arrest warrant against him setting bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.

 Former OFW shot dead in Cauayan

CAUAYAN, Isabela -- Former overseas contract worker Desiderio Geronimo, 56, had just visited the wake of a relative in Barangay Zone 3 in Cauayan when he was shot. Desiderio died while being treated in a hospital. Police said the victim surrendered under Oplan Tokhang last year and was charged with child abuse.

76-year-old man nabbed for concubinage 

LAGANGILANG, Abra – A 76-year-old farmer was arrested here Monday in Barangay Lagben fo concubinage. This, after presiding judge Redentor B. Valera of MTC, Bangued, Abra issued warrant against him setting bail of P10,000 for his temporary liberty.

Man shot dead in Binmaley

BINMALEY, Pangasinan -- Mervin de Vera, 40, was riding a motorcycle driven by his cousin when two men on another motorbike opened fire here in Barangay Balagan on Tuesday. Police are investigating.

 Farmer nabbed for lasciviousness

SABLAN, Benguet – A farmer was arrested here Monday for acts of lasciviousness here in Banangan. Nabbed was Donato Belingon Chong-ao, 53 after Marietta S. Brawner-Cualing, presiding judge of RTC, Branch 9, 1st Judicial Region, La Trinidad, Benguet issued warrant against him and setting bail of P80,000 for his temporary liberty.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan -- A man wearing a mask shot Mark Philip Maramag, a resident of Barangay Ugac Norte in Tuguegarao, Cagayan during a drinking spree in Barangay Tanza.

 Motorcycle burned in Kiangan

KIANGAN, Ifugao – A still unidentified person cut the gasoline hose of a motorcycle, set fire on the vehicle,then fled away here Monday. Reymart Palay Tuguinay, 19, reported to police the red RUSI Motorcycle owned by Agustin Dulnuan that was parked beside the road here at Pico Tupolac was burned by unknown suspect around 12:30 to 1 a.m.

 Woman reports abuses of live-in partner  

BAGUIO CITY – A certain Aiko Gundran Pascua, 25 reported to police she was physically abused by her live-in partner John Lester Flora Pasion, 24 of Gumamela Street, Bakakeng Norte where the abuse was reportedly committed August 5.
The victim said she caught the suspect having conversation with another woman which prompted her to grab the suspect’s cell phone and throw it outside their house. The suspect uttered unsavory words which prompted her to slap him once but the suspect punched her waist once.
Due to continuous arguments, the victim decided to leave but the suspect prevented her from leaving and continued shouting and pushing her. Victim disclosed this was not the first time the suspect verbally and physically abused her and even failed to support their son who is presently being cared for by her mother.

 Jeep driver shot dead in Cauayan

CAUAYAN CITY- jeepney driver Conrado Ruiz, 32, was waiting for passengers at a terminal here in Barangay San Fermin when he was fired at. Police said Ruiz, who died,  surrendered under Oplan Tokhang last year.

 Carabao gores 74-year-old farmer to death

DANGLAS, Abra – A 74-year-old man was gored to death by a carabao and found dead here Monday here at Domeguiay, Caupasan. The body was identified as that of Gregorio Arcal Pilor, of Pidipid, La Paz town.
 Investigation disclosed that the cadaver was discovered by Rubencio Pilor Velasco, cousin of the victim, and his daughter, Cecile Velasco Quiñones. Both were on their way to the sugarcane field when they noticed the lifeless body of the victim along the pathway close to his carabao with blood oozing from his body. They reported the incident to barangay officials and police who immediately responded. Investigation disclosed the victim sustained wounds on his head, chest and back caused by a carabao horn. Police requested for autopsy but the family refused and  executed a waiver saying they believed the cause of death of the victim was an accident. The cadaver was taken to Catherine Funeral Homes at Zone 7, Bangued, Abra.

Motorcycle driver killed, rider hurt

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – A motorcycle driver was killed while his rider was injured when their vehicle slammed onto a gmelina tree here Monday around 5 p.m.  
Police said the accident happened near the municipal police office. The driver was named as Raymond Ragenden Galera, 26, while his rider was identified as Jefferson Mangili Garcia, 18, both farmers and residents of Guam, San Guillermo, Isabela.
                Responding police and disaster personnel brought the victims to the Potia District Hospital where Garcia was declared dead on arrival while Galera was confined.

3 drug suspects killed in CL

Three drug suspects were slain in police operations while three were shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Central Luzon last week.
Radel Dayrit drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Pampang, Angeles, Pampanga, police said.
In Bulacan, Areld Lopez, a resident of Barangay Trinidad, and an alias Toni of Bulihan, both in Malolos;  Roberto Paragas, 33; Aldrein Macaraig of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan and two unidentified men engaged policemen in shootouts in anti-drug operations, said Senior Superintendent  Romeo Caramat, provincial police acting director. 
Guns, sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and drug money were allegedly recovered from the fatalities.

Jeep driver shot dead; man burned in plantation

CAUAYAN CITY -- Jeepney driver Conrado Ruiz, 32, was waiting for passengers at a terminal in Barangay San Fermin here when he was fired at and killed by still unidentified persons. Police said Ruiz surrendered under Oplan Tokhang last year. Manwhile, in Gamu, Isabela, residents found the charred remains of a man in a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Lenzon.

 Patayan nabbed for murder in Apayao

PUDTOL, Apayao – Lawmen arrested here recently a certain Peter Riquin Patayan, 68, married, retired government employee for murder. He was arrested in Barangay Swan after Francisco S. Donato, designate judge of RTC, Branch 26, 2nd Judicial Region at Luna, Apayao issued warrant against him.

Bizman’s pickup hits councilor’s Fortuner 

BAGUIO CITY – A Toyota Hi-Lux pickup owned and driven by a businessman hit a Toyota Fortuner was owned by a city councilor here Aug. 31 around 10:30 p.m. resulting to confiscation of both drivers’ licenses and OR/CRs of both vehicles.  
A police report said the accident happened along Cariño Street fronting Rowen's Bar where the pick-up driven by Peter Ana-as Kawi, 51 of Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet was leaving maneuvering backwards when its rear hit the Fortuner parked unattended at the side of the road, owned by Councilor Benny Olowan Bomogao, 46. Both involved vehicles incurred damages.

 Carpenter shoots Abra military aide  

LICUAN-BAAY, Abra – A carpenter is now in hot water after reportedly shooting a military auxiliary member here around 8:30 a.m. on July 30 at Sitio Baquero, Barangay Nalbuan.
The victim was identified as Odilo Barcena Valera, 39, while the suspect was Winifredo Salabit Ganub a, 63.
Police probe bared the victim was traversing the Abra-Kalinga national road on board of a motorcycle when he passed by the suspect’s store. The suspect allegedly shouted to the victim to stop then hurriedly went inside his store.
The victim continued slowly and when he was around 40 to 50 meters away, the suspect came out and fired upon the victim but missed using allegedly a long Cal 22. The suspect surrendered to police after the incident but didn’t surrender his firearm. Both parties agreed and requested that the case be endorsed to the Office of barangay chief Joseph L. Brillantes for settlement.

 Cops slay man  in Isabela buy-bust

BURGOS, Isabela -- Joey Malobago was shot dead by cops when allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to policemen who posed as buyers here in Barangay Rania on July 31. Shabu, marked money and a gun were allegedly recovered from the fatality.

 5 hurt as vehicles collide along Halsema Highway  

BUGUIAS, Benguet – Five persons were seriously injured when a Tamaraw FX wagon and Starex van collided here
July 30 around 5:20 p.m. along Halsema Highway, Nakiangan, Abatan.
The Tamaraw was driven by Johnny Waclin Gum-o, 24, farmer who was with his three passengers identified as Alfred Bilit Galap, 17; Leonardo Topkil Biag, 17 and Jomar Magawen Waclin, 17, all residents of Cada, Balili, Mankayan town.
Meanwhile, the Starex was driven by Robert Ciano Bancado, 50, businessman, with his wife  Shirley, 42.
Investigation disclosed the south bound Tamaraw encroached the opposite lane and collided with the Starex. As a result, both drivers and passengers were injured and brought to Lutheran Hospital, Abatan, for  treatment by police.

 6 killed in gunfights with Bulacan cops

SAN JOE DEL MONTE, Bulacan -- Remi Passi, Roberto Mateo Jr., Michael Ricafrente, Jubille Recafrente, Nelfa David, Jhunel David, an alias Joel and an unidentified man were killed when they allegedly engaged policemen in shootouts in Barangay Minuyan, San Jose del Monte; Bayugo, Meycauayan; Plaridel and Marilao on Aug. 1.
Police said the fatalities yielded guns, sachets of shabu and marked money.

 Man kills self at neighbor’s house

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A man reportedly committed suicide at the house of his neighbor in Barangay Centro, Lal-lo, Cagayan on July 30. 
The body of Florante Paat, 51, was discovered by his eight-year-old daughter hanging from the ceiling of the kitchen at the house of retired soldier Serafin Camacho, 86. An electric cord was looped around the neck of Paat.

Responding policemen said they recovered a suicide note. – Raymund Catindig
