Two dead in Ilocos motorbike mishaps

LAOAG CITY -- Two people recently died in separate motorcycle accidents in the Ilocos Region.

A 46-year-old woman died while her three-year-old niece was wounded when their motorcycle collided with a passenger jeepney along the national highway in Barit, Laoag City last Jan. 25. 

The police said Marilen Eugenio swerved to the opposite lane when she was hit by the jeepney driven by Samie Aguda, 41, at around 7:25 a.m.

Eugenio was pronounced dead on arrival at the Gov. Roque Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital where she was rushed, with the toddler Yham Mhira dela Cruz. 

Aguda surrendered to responding police officers.

In San Fabian, Pangasinan Melvin Orero, 32, died yesterday after his motorcycle crashed along the road at Barangay Longos Proper.

Orero was pronounced dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City. – Eva Visperas and Raymund Catindig
