Pangasinan P2.5-B bypass road halfway done – Villar

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The construction of a six-km bypass road is now halfway completed, Dept. of Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar said following a recent inspection.

“Ongoing civil works for Lingayen bypass road are right on track,” Villar said in a statement.

“With the initial release of P1.28-billion, we already accomplished the concreting of 3.8-kilometers of road under the 2018 and 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA),” he added.

According to DPWH-Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan, the P2.5-billion project involves the construction of a four-lane, six-km bypass road made of Portland concrete cement pavement.

The new road starts at the intersection of Pangasinan-Zambales Road and Lingayen Labrador Diversion Road, traversing Lingayen Proper to Barangay Poblacion, in the municipality of Binmaley.

The construction of four bridges, installation of road safety devices, drainage, slop protection structures, and an overpass are also included in the implementation of the road project.

Villar said the road will alleviate traffic congestion and benefit an average daily traffic count of 18,942 vehicles.

During the inspection, Tan was instructed to expedite construction works to ensure that it will be completed by 2022, as scheduled in the contract.

“Once fully completed, travel time will be reduced, livelihood will flourish, and economic activities will increase, resulting in an all-inclusive development in the Ilocos Region,” Villar said.
