2 drug suspects slain in Ilocos Sur, Bulacan

TWO DRUG SUSPECTSs were killed in Ilocos Sur and Bulacan last week.

In Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, a police report said Franky Usana, 33, was driving his motorcycle with Rodel Parbo, 32, when they were ambushed around 8:35 p.m.  on March 1.

Usana was wounded in in the ambush in Barangay San Julian.

Parbo was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital where Usana was also taken for treatment.

Parbo was tagged in a shooting incident in Barangay Patong in 2018.  

Police said Usana survived a gun attack after he surrendered under Oplan Tokhang in 2016.        

In Plaridel, Bulacan, another drug suspect was killed early Tuesday morning.

Col. Lawrence Cajipe, acting Bulacan police director, identified the suspect as Reynold Pineda, alias Enok, who was entrapped in a sting in Barangay Agnaya at around 12:40 a.m. and allegedly fired his gun at arresting police operatives.

Police said they recovered 50 plastic sachets of shabu, a revolver and marked money from the suspect.

Meanwhile, 14 other drug suspects were arrested in separate drug stings in the cities of Meycauayan and San Jose del Monte, and in the towns of Santa Maria and Marilao.

Seized from the suspects were 47 plastic sachets containing  shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money.      

Ex-Ecija governor, 2 mayors cleared of graft

THE SANDIGANBAYAN has reversed the conviction for graft of former Nueva Ecija governor Tomas Joson III and two town mayors in connection with the unlawful donation of vehicles.

The anti-graft court’s Special Seventh Division acquitted Joson and former mayors Eduardo Basilio Joson and Amelia Gamilla, of Quezon and Bongabon towns, respectively.

In a 50-page resolution issued recently, the court said it reconsidered its previous ruling as the alleged improper use of donated vehicles was not included in the charge sheet.

“The accusatory portion of the information referred only to the act of donating and accepting as the source of the alleged gross disadvantage,” the court said.

The resolution, signed by Associate Justice Georgina Hidalgo, said Joson was authorized by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to donate the vehicles to the municipal governments of Quezon and Bongabon.

“Whatever happened after the donation is no longer within his control and responsibility,” the court said, referring to Joson.

Aside from Joson, the anti-graft court also cleared his nephew Eduardo and Gamilla for failure of the prosecution to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

Earlier, Joson was sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for donating the provincial government’s vehicles to his nephew and Gamilla’s municipality. 

 

Vendor nabbed for kidnapping Baguio student

BAGUIO CITY –Police arrested the kidnapper and rescued a minor student at his hideout in km 3, Asin Road, this city.

City policed director Col. Allen Rae Co identified the suspect as Sammy Nonog Pacle,27, a vendor and native of Naguillian, La Union.

Co said the parents of the victim reported to the BCPO Station 7 that their 11-year old Grade 6 daughter had gone missing on Feb. 27, prompting the police to conduct immediate investigation.

Co said footage from a CCTV camera at the overpass in Maharlika showed the victim being accompanied by the suspect going towards Abanao street where they boarded a taxi.

The CCTV footage was shown to vendors at Baguio City Public Market who were able to identify the suspect, and tell the police where he lives.

The police immediately proceeded to the area and arrested the suspect inside his house and rescued the victim at 3 p.m., Feb. 28.

The suspect was brought to Station 7, while the victim was brought to hospital for medical examination.

The police is waiting for the results of the medical examination to determine if she was molested by the suspect.

The police also learned that the suspect threatened to kill the victim if she will refuse to go with him.

Co said that the suspect also has a standing warrant of arrest for rape in Bauang, La Union with no bail recommended.

 

P 23.4 million marijuana, shabu seized, 40 arrested

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Over P23.4-million worth of illegal drugs were recently confiscated while 40 individuals were arrested in a series of police operations in the Cordillera.

Among the 40, two were recently apprehended in a buy- bust operation.

Ian Terry Ladyong Olat, of Umangil St. Dagupan West, Tabuk City was apprehended Feb. 29 at Francisco, Dagupan West, Tabuk while Philip Louie C. Peralta was nabbed at Zone 4, Bangued, Abra on Feb. 28. Along with the arrest of Olat was the confiscation of P1,000 buy-bust money, motorcycle key, Oppo cell phone, and sachet containing suspected shabu valued at P925.48.

Peralta yielded three sachets containing suspected shabu, P7,520 cash, Swiss knife and a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, some P23,201,300 worth of marijuana plants were destroyed.
Cases four illegal drugs were filed against four cultivators.

The Benguet Police Provincial Office had 11 operations and destroyed marijuana plants worth P21,041,300.

The Mt. Province PPO also eradicated marijuana plants with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P2,160,000.

A total of 44 police operations resulted in the arrest of 40 drug suspects and seizure of 68 sachets of suspected shabu, two sachets of marijuana, 30 ml. of marijuana oil, three marijuana tubes, six marijuana bricks, 68,924 marijuana plants, 2,100 seedlings, 9,500 marijuana stalks and 46.51 kg. of marijuana with an overall total of P23,422,598.44.

 Baguio teacher held for recruitment

PALAYAN CITY, Nueva Ecija -- A school teacher from Baguio City, wanted for syndicated illegal recruitment was arrested Tuesday by police here in Barangay Singalat.

A police report showed that Melvin Jose Alamag, of no.  37 Purok Sajio, Loakan Proper, Baguio City was nabbed by joint police personnel of Criminal Investigation and Detection group, Palayan, Nueva Ecija and Ilocos Sur.

Eleanor Teodora Marbas-Vizcarra, Acting Presiding Judge of Third Judicial Region, RTC Branch 40, Palayan City issued arrest warrant against Alamag on May 24.

Police said Alamag is the leader of the Alamag Group involved in illegal recruitment in Nueva Ecija.

2 biker  thieves held in Bulacan

MARILAO, Bulacan – Two motorcycle-riding robbers were arrested in the village of Lambakin here by alert Bulacan policemen who immediately responded to a robbery report on Feb. 28

In a report sent by Lt. Col. Amado A. Mendoza Jr., acting police chief in this town, to Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, acting Bulacan police director, the arrested suspects were identified as Rogel Rivera Mendiola, 33 and Ricardo Sebastian Camumot, 40, both of Caloocan City.

Investigation showed that on that day, an Indian national introduced himself as Gurdev Singh, and reported that he was robbed by two unidentified suspects riding on a colored gray motorcycle, which did not have any plate number, in Barangay Tugatog, City of Meycauayan.

Upon learning of the report, Bulacan police wasted no time and immediately conducted Oplan Sita along Cordero St. in Barangay Lambakin that resulted in the arrest of the suspects, who were positively identified by the victim.

Recovered from the suspects were two loaded caliber-.38 revolvers with four bullets, a fragmentation grenade, and cash money amounting to P2,020.

Criminal complaints of Robbery and Violation of RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Live Ammunitions and Live Fragmentation Grenade) against the arrested suspects are now being prepared for filing in court.

3 robbery suspects slain in ‘shootout’

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga  – Three robbery suspects, including a police officer, were killed in an alleged encounter in Sto. Tomas, Pampanga on Tuesday.

The fatalities were identified as Edgardo Caliuag, Segundino Ellazo and S/Sgt. Wilson Regala, who is assigned at Camp Crame’s communication and electronics services.

The suspects reportedly robbed a resident at gunpoint in Barangay Ponduan in San Fernando City, according to Col. Eric Noble, deputy director for operations of the regional police.

Responding police officers pursued the suspects, who were in a black vehicle and cornered them in Barangay Moras in Sto. Tomas.  

Noble said the suspects shot at the lawmen, triggering a firefight that resulted in their death. 

Probers said they recovered a pistol, ammunition and a gold watch from Caliuag; a black watch and driver’s license from Elazo, and another pistol, assorted cards and a PSSLAI (Public Safety Savings and Loan Association Inc.) identification card from Regala.
