1,142 displaced workers helped by DOLE's TUPAD program

A total
of 1,142 displaced workers in Baguio City due to the Enhanced Community
Quarantine caused by the corona virus 2019 (COVID-19) have started working
under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Displaced Worker (TUPAD) program of
the government.
Under the TUPAD program, the beneficiaries will work for 10 days
starting March 29 to April 11, 2020 by helping the barangays in their
sanitation, clean and green programs among others.
The beneficiaries will be paid P350 per day as salary or a total of
P3,500 for the 10 working days funded by the Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE) in the Cordillera.
The beneficiaries were pre-identified by their barangay officials and
the list were submitted to the DOLE through the Public Employment Services
Office of the city.
The following barangays are part of the first batch of TUPAD program
with the number of workers: Ambiong – 61, Andres Bonifacio – 23, AZCKO – 6,
Balsigan – 22, Brookspoint – 10, Brookside – 42, Cabinet Hill-Teacher's Camp –
47, Camp Allen – 28, Campo Sioco – 1, Central Guisad – 2, City Camp Central –
47, City Camp Proper – 9, Cresencia Village – 22, DPS Compound – 48, Dominican
Hill-Mirador – 2, East Bayan Park Aurora Hill – 18, Fairview – 6, Gabriel
Silang – 43, Gibraltar – 43, Gov. Pack – 4, Happy Hallow – 4, Hillside – 8,
Honeymoon-Holyghost – 33, Holyghost Extension – 50, Imelda Village – 43, Irisan
22 - Ledesma St. Aurora Hill – 9, Loakan Magsaysay – 1, Lopez Jaena Aurora Hill

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong said this is the first batch of beneficiaries
and are composed mostly of displaced taxi drivers from 52 barangays in Baguio.
Aside
from the salary, DOLE Cordillera also allotted more or less P500,000 for the
personal protective equipment (PPE) while the city government allotted P100,000
for the monitoring and administrative work.
