Indigent families in Bulacan towns get relief goods

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – Army troops have combined efforts with a private company in distributing relief packs to people in need amid the enhanced community quarantine being implemented due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak.

In a statement on Tuesday, Lt. Col. Felix Emeterio M. Valdez, commanding officer of the 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion, lauded the initiative of Eagle Cement in helping 620 families in the villages of Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) and San Ildefonso, both in Bulacan province.

According to him, the recipients of the food packs, that contained 10 kilos of rice and seven assorted canned goods, included 520 indigent families in Barangay Camachin, Sapang Bulac, the Damascus Foundation located in the municipality of DRT; and, 100 families from Barangay Gabihan of San Ildefonso municipality.

“The effort of Eagle Cement is a welcome relief to our needy people who are stuck in the middle of lockdown being implemented by the government,” Lt. Col. Valdez said.

“I encourage other organizations in the business sector to also do their share to help the government entice people to stay home and follow ECQ protocols; this way we can contribute in the deterrence of the spread of the dreaded disease,” he added.

Eagle Cement Security Manager Rolando Malinao said that the relief operations of their company will continue to be implemented until the COVID-19 crisis is resolved.
