11 Covid patients in Benguet, Baguio recover, sent home

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Eleven patients who recovered from Covid-19  disease were discharged Aug. 9 from health facilities in Benguet and Baguio City.

The provincial government of Benguet reported Benguet General Hospital sent off 10 Covid-19 patients while one was discharged from the Baguio City Community Isolation Unit or the old Santo Nino Hospital.

Of the 10 discharged from the BeGH, six were from La Trinidad, a 56 year old male tanod and a 31 year old female, both from barangay Pico; a 55 year old female from Barangay Betag; a 47 year old male from barangay Balili, and two male Returning Overseas Filipinos, 34 and 29, from Pico and Balili respectively.

Two were from Itogon – a 49 year old bank messenger and a 28 year old male ROF.

The other two were from Tuba – a 35 year-old male ROF and a 41 year old female.

The patient discharged in Baguio City was a 24 year old male police officer from La Trinidad.

As a tradition, a simple send-off ceremony was held for patients of  BeGH with distribution of flowering plants and fruit bearing trees from the office of the Provincial Agriculturist and food packs from the Benguet Legislative Caretaker before they were ferried home by their respective local government units.

The send-off ceremony was attended by Benguet Gov. Melchor Diclas, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda, personnel from the office of Benguet Caretaker Rep. Eric Go Yap and BeGH led by Dr. Meliarazon Dulay.

Diclas congratulated the patients who recovered and expressed gratitude to health workers who helped patients during their isolation at BeGH facility.

The governor also congratulated the frontliner who was discharged in Baguio City and thanked health workers who took care of the patient from Benguet.

 According to the Benguet Public Information Office, this was the second time that the province recorded the highest number of recoveries in a day.

It was June 25 when the province first recorded 11 recoveries in a day.

As of August 10, the province recorded 91 confirmed cases with 65 recoveries, 25 active cases and one death. – PIA CAR
