BAGUIO CITY -- Restrictions on movement and activities here due to spike in Covid-19 cases are set to be lifted starting today (April 4).
City Mayor Benjamin Magalong earlier issued an executive order  implementing  restrictions in line with general community quarantine for stricter execution of the enhanced prevent, detect, isolate, test and reintegrate (PDITR) measures to limit mobility, speed up contact tracing and aid in effective isolation and quarantine of individuals infected with Covid-19.
Magalong said part of measures was enforcement of barring individuals from areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) — the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal — dubbed as the “NCR Plus.”
The non-acceptance of people travelling into the city without official and essential business from the said areas were also until April 4 or Easter Sunday.
The Baguio City mayor said with current number of Covid-19 cases in the city — though not classified as high risk — there was need to implement drastic and immediate actions to mitigate further local transmission in the city.
He added it will also be a big help to the medical frontliners.
As of March 29, Baguio had a total of 7, 363 confirmed Covid-19 cases of which, 569 were active cases.
Total number of recoveries was 6,668 while death toll in the city was 126.
The curfew hours in Baguio City were adjusted earlier from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Exempted from the restrictions and curfews were workers in frontline industries and other permitted businesses, medical frontliners, uniformed personnel and those conducting official and essential business and transactions.
