Fake NPA held over extortion in Nueva Vizcaya

SOLANO,
Nueva Vizcaya – Police arrested a 39-year-old fake New People’s Army member in
an entrapment operation after trying to extort P60,000 from a businesswoman here
March 22. The suspect was identified as Romuel Salmos, 39, of Barangay Bonfal
Proper in Bayombong town.
His victim sought the help of local police after he reportedly demanded the amount as revolutionary tax.
Salmos also asked the victim to check-in at a hotel, police said.
Salmos yielded 60 pieces of the P1,000 boodle money and 15 sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth).
Salmos awaits charges of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and robbery through extortion.
