GENERAL TINIO, Nueva Ecija — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Nueva Ecija announced that it has completed the P11.7-million farm-to-market road in Barangay Pias which is seen to provide ease of travel to both motorists and farmer residents.
The newly paved 3.096-lane km farm-to-market road in Barangay Pias is part of the thrust by the DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office (DOE) to reduce travel time for motorists.
According to district Engineer Elpidio Trinidad, the undertaking is part of the Convergence Program of the DPWH and Department of Agriculture (DA) funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2021.
In
other developments, Trinidad inspected the ongoing desilting project of the
Nueva Ecija Area Equipment Section (NEAES) in Gabaldon as he noted that the
desilting of the Digmala Creek started in October last year.
The
agency has removed large amounts of sand deposits and other dredge materials.
“This
undertaking has improved the creek’s flood carrying-capacity,” Trinidad said.
He
added that by improving the channel’s ability to carry increased river flow,
flooding in low-lying areas during the typhoon season can be mitigated, thus
promoting the safety and welfare of residents living nearby.
Trinidad
was with Quality Assurance Chief Marlon G. Hernandez and field engineers from
the Construction and Maintenance Sections. The group assessed the condition of
the bridge structure located in the said waterway.
