BAGUIO CITY -- The City
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office bared findings by foreign
consultants that visited this city were similar to findings of the Cordillera
office of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-CAR) on geo-hazards and risks
in high-risk areas here.
Louie Glen Lardizabal of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) said results of studies by foreign consultants from Asian Development Bank (ADB) bolstered findings of MGB-CAR on geo-hazards and risks in the city which could be used by the local government in risk assessment and mapping activities to update local disaster risk reduction and management plan and climate adaptation program to lessen danger to folks during calamities.
Earlier, several foreign consultants from the ADB were in the city to conduct risk assessment and geo-hazard studies to help the local government in preventive and mitigating measures.
Results of the studies are available at the CDRRMO for information, ready reference, guidance and action of concerned government agencies, offices of the local government and the barangays, he added.
Geo-hazard areas in the city, particularly flood and landslide-prone areas, have been identified in said studies and disseminated to concerned barangays so they could make preventive and mitigating measures for the safety of their constituents. – Dexter A. See
