The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended cash assistance amounting to P6,168,299.35 to victims of the recent flash flood in Ifugao Province.
Apart from distributing cash assistance, DSWD likewise extended 1,500 food and non-food items to help the victims. Latest data showed that at least 1,054 families or 3,166 individuals from 10 barangays in the municipalities of Banaue and Hungduan were affected by the flash flood.
Meanwhile, the DSWD, through its field office in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), continues to extend humanitarian aid to the victims.
“[We] continue to deliver family food packs and other relief assistance like sleeping kits, family kits, kitchen kits, hygiene kits, and laminated sacks, among others to those affected areas in the region,” said DWSD in a press statement issued on Thursday, July 21.
“As of press time, there are 25,357 available family food packs prepositioned in the different warehouses in CAR. The field office is still on alert status and is coordinating with concerned local government units (LGUs),” it furthered.
Parts of Ifugao were hit by flash floods and mudslides on July 7. This was triggered by heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat.”
