Rockslides make Tagudin- Cervantes Road impassable

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The Department of Public Works and Highways announced Tuesday evening that Tagudin-Cervantes Road (Ilocos Sur) was not passable to all types of vehicles but restoration works were on to clear the road.
    The report said it was due to new land/rockslides and recurrence of land/rockslides along Tagudin-Cervantes Road.
    The land/rockslides were caused by the continuous aftershocks and heavy rainfall in the area.
    The Ilocos Sur 2nd District Engineering Office said the Municipality of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur can be reached through an alternate route.
    If bound to Cervantes: From Candon City, travelers can take Junction Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlidda-San Emilio-Quirino Road (45.736 kms.) and Cervantes-Quirino Road (26.511 kms) and vice versa.
Meanwhile, La Union 2nd District Engineering Office said San Luis Bridge 2 (K0220+759) along Rosario-Pugo Road was passable only for vehicles of up to 10 tons, and vehicles above 10 tons may take Manila North Road/Agoo-Baguio City Road and vice versa.
    All other National Roads and Bridges were passable to all types of vehicles.
    Commuters were advised to take precautionary measures while traversing affected national roads and bridges in region 1.
