Police apprehend 504 druggies in Cordillera

Trinidad, Benguet – Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Mafelino A. Bazar
bared arrest of 504 drug personalities while a total of P1,135,659,268.85 worth
of illegal drugs were confiscated including those uprooted and burned during
marijuana eradication operations.
Based on the records of the Regional Operations Division from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2022, a total of 620 anti-illegal drugs operations were conducted by police in buy-bust operations, marijuana eradication drives, implementation of search and arrest warrants and checkpoint operations.
Operations resulted in arrest of 504 drug personalities, the regional police information office said.
Baguio City Police Office recorded the most number of arrests with 250, followed respectively by the Benguet Police Provincial Office with 111, Kalinga PPO with 82 arrests; Abra, 36; Apayao,14; Mountain Province, seven arrests and Ifugao with four.
Marijuana eradication operations resulted in confiscation of 4,004,024 fully-grown marijuana plants and 1,618,375.76 grams of dried marijuana, all uprooted and burned in the provinces of Benguet, Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mountain Province.
Twenty persons who used drugs were urged to voluntarily surrender and to undergo community-based recovery and wellness program.
Last year, a total of 738 PWUDs completed their community-based RWP.
