26 Cordi vehicle crashes but Holy Week peaceful

Trinidad, Benguet – Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr.
said Monday Holy Week in the region was relatively peaceful with no major crime
incidents from April 6 to 9 due to effective security deployment plans and
strategic initiatives.
This, despite drowning incident in Kalinga and 26 vehicular traffic accidents regionwide.
The regional director earlier ordered deployment of 1,120 police officers to secure major thoroughfares, transportation hubs and places of convergence before Holy Week.
Also, troops from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, personnel from Bureau of Fire Protection and volunteers served as additional forces during Holy Week. Peredo, in a statement said collaboration of the PNP and other government agencies made Holy Week observation peaceful and orderly in the region.
He cited the public for their cooperation with the heightened police security measures.
He also lauded personnel volunteers who patiently performed their duties to secure the safety of the public.
Peredo Jr. also inspected police assistance desks in Baguio City and Benguet to ensure welfare and readiness of police officers in conduct of their duties and responsibilities.
The regional director also joined simultaneous kick-off of “Bisikleta Iglesia” and ordered patrols in churches and places of convergence to ensure peaceful Holy Week observation in the region.
