MABALACAT, Pampanga – Police and concerned residents rescued unharmed on Sept. 25 a Chinese businessman who was abducted in Juan Luna, Binondo Manila on Sept. 23.
Si Wei Pang, a Chinese national engaged in electronics business, was presented to Chief Supt Errol T. Pan, Region 3 police director by Sr. Supt. Keith Ernald Singian, Pampanga police director, and Supt. Melchor Reyes, chief of police of Mabalacat, after the successful rescue operation.
Quoting the victim, Reyes said Pang was abducted as he was going out of his firm in Juan Luna, Binondo that night by three armed men who rode on a Starex van with plate number RDC 146.
Pang told police that he was immediately blindfolded and couldn’t see where they were going.
He said he felt they were traveling most of the time since he was abducted.
“My abductors told me they would not hurt me if I just followed their instructions,” Pang told this correspondent in an interview.
But the victim lamented he was not given food except for biscuits while they were traveling.
The victim said he was unaware if the suspects got in touch with his family and asked ransom, saying they just kept on traveling and had not heard them talking.
Singian said the suspects then brought the victim to a secluded dumpsite in Mauli, Mabalacat town.
“But when they got off our vehicle, the people saw us and they called the police. My abductors got alarmed and they just ran away,” Singian said.
