Control over Kalinga, Apayao returned to Cordillera PNP

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The administrative and operational control of the Kalinga and Apayao police was returned to Cordillera police following turn-over ceremonies at Camp Adduru Tuguegarao City in Cagayan province on Nov. 13.

The ceremony was attended by regional police directors chief superintendents Eugene Martin and Ameto Gil Tolentino of Cordillera and Cagayan Valley respectively.

A memorandum of agreement was signed by both officials to establish a Task Force Caisaka composed of police from their jurisdiction to address criminality along boundaries of both regions. Following this, Senior Supt. Maximino M. Valiente took over as provincial police director of kalinga from Supt. Florante J. Camuyot in rites at Camp Juan Duyan, Tabuk City in Kalinga the next day.
The ceremony was officiated by Martin, Gov. Floy Delia Diasen of Kalinga, Director Rodolfo Santos Jr. of National Police Commission- Cordillera, Kalinga town mayors and different sectors of the province.

In a short message, Martin urged Kalinga constituents to give the same trust and support to the new leadership. “Everybody should be vigilant and work as a binding force to neutralize crime and terrorism. This province had its share of ups and downs and it is for this reason that everyone must help each other in traversing the road for a more peaceful community.”

After the turn-over ceremony, the provincial peace and order council meeting was held at the Camp Duyan presided by Diasen. Municipal Mayors gave a briefing on the peace and order situation. The 501st Army Brigade also a briefing on criminality and insurgency. Officials pledged to addressed issues and concerns to improve peace and order in Kalinga and nearby provinces. -- AD
