Nominees sought in search for gov’t service exemplars

BAGUIO CITY -- The Civil Service Commission has started the annual nationwide Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.
Regional director 4 Lorenzo Danipog bared this saying the search aims to recognize and reward individuals and groups of individuals who have rendered outstanding contributions and achievements, and have displayed exemplary conduct and ethical behavior in public service.
“Nominations for the search are now being accepted nationwide through the CSC’s regional and field offices or through the honor awards program secretariat,” he said.
Nomination forms, details and other relevant data on the search may be obtained from any of the CSC’s regional and field offices throughout the country or from the HAP secretariat at the CSC Central Office, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City.

Government agencies have until March 31, to submit to CSC the nominations of agency officials and employees for all the three award categories: Presidential or Lingkod Bayan Award; the Civil Service Commission or PAGASA Award and the Dangal ng Bayan Award.
A group or team may be nominated even if there are members who fail to meet squarely the qualification requirements.
Said members, however, shall be excluded from the grant of award, should the team/group be selected as an awardee.
Danipog said previous awardees can still be nominated to the same or to another award five years after the conferment of his or her award, provided that the nomination is based on new set of accomplishments or exemplary norms or behavior manifested.
Nominees who are recipients of national awards given by private organizations or institutions shall be automatically considered for the search.
Any individual or organization with extensive knowledge of the performance and behavior of the official, employee or group ay nominate for the Honor Awards.
While agencies are expected to nominate their exemplars, there is no limit to the number of nominees which the agency may field in any of the award categories.
Nominations must be approved and endorsed by the office, provincial or regional PRAISE committee to the department or agency head which in turn shall endorse the nomination to the HAP secretariat through CSC field or regional offices.
The CSC shall prepare the endorsement letters once the nomination documents are ready and upon request from concerned offices.
“In the Cordillera, the support of all Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) committees is solicited in the identification of potential 2008 HAP awardees,” Danipog said.
