BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr. last week issued Administrative Order 27 of 2009, as to the use of slaughterhouse as terminal, and prohibiting the entry of Public Utility Vehicles in the Central Business District.

“As to the AO, there is a need to limit the number of vehicles to CBD from Magsaysay Avenue to Bonifacio St. intersection, due to extreme traffic congestion,” he said.

Thus, all northbound jeepneys from La Trinidad, including those from Atok, Kapangan, Kibungan, Tublay, all of Benguet, be “prohibited from using any area in Baguio city except the Slaughter house Compound as their staging area; to load and unload at major thoroughfares, especially at Magsaysay Avenue, Buhagan road (formerly Bokawkan road) and Shuntug Street (formerly Chuntug Street).

A free ferrying or shuttling service without extra cost to passengers is to be devised by offices concerned; Traffic and Transport Management Committee and the Traffic Management Branch of the Baguio City Police Office.

The TMB-BCPO and Public Order and Safety Division of the City Mayor’s Office are also directed to enforce said order while assistance from the Department of Transportation and Communication is requested through modification of entry and exit routes of PUJs as to their Certificate of Public Convenience.

However, the administrative order is set to be implemented “upon completion of public works at the Slaughterhouse compound as Northbound Terminal.”

The order, the mayor said, “is issued in the interest of public service and shall take effect immediately.”

Copies of the order shall be furnished to all concerned departments and agencies.
