BONTOC, Mountain Province – Six high schools have been converted as national high schools in the province through republic acts approved by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo recently.

This was bared by Gov. Maximo B. Dalog and schools division superintendent Mary A. Lang-ayan.

These new national high schools are Dacudac NHS of Tadian, Buringal NHS of Paracelis, Data NHS of Sabangan, Tamboan NHS of Besao, Saclit NHS of Sadanga and Abatan NHS of Bauko.

Conversion of the schools was through sponsorship of the late Mountain Province Rep. Victor S. Dominguez.

These schools will be getting regular appropriations from the national government’s General Appropriation Act.

Gov. Dalog said the provincial government will continue fund support for the schools. “Conversion of the schools shows concern of government in providing the school children opportunity to learn and receive basic education so they will be prepared to face challenges ahead.”

He said the schools would decongest classrooms and parents who find it financially difficult to send their children to high school because of high transportation and lodging costs will be relieved.

“This is a challenge to our students to finish secondary level because it is just at their door step,” said Susan L. Aminor, Division ALS supervisor: By 2015 every Filipino in our province should be functionally literate.” -- Wynner Sayaan
