BONTOC, Mountain Province -- The main suspect in a series of robberies of business establishments within the Poblacion here near the Bontoc public market, turned out he was only 16 when he was apprehended recently.

This, after one Roel Oya-oy saw the minor come out of the store of Reynaldo Lopez. Upon knowing that Lopez was not inside the store Oya-oy called the attention of the suspect but the latter ran away.

This prompted Oya-oy to run after and caught him at the provincial plaza. The suspect was brought immediately to the Bontoc police station for investigation.

The suspect, according to the officer on case PO2 Gwendolyn Yodong, admitted he was responsible for the thefts on different occasions from April 2009 to last month.

The suspect was turned over to the municipal social welfare development office for guidance and counseling. On the same day he was handed over to his parents for custody.

The suspect was reportedly a student of the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School and a resident of Barangay Maligcong of this capital town. -- Francis B. Degay
