Teamwork among new execs, a must: Domogan

BAGUIO CITY -- Good teamwork among the incoming new set of officials is very important for a cohesive effort to solve pressing problems related to garbage, the dilapidated public market, tourism, peace and order, among others.

This is being underscored by congressman and mayoralty candidate Mauricio Domogan in his campaign sorties with his Timpuyog ti Baguio coalition in the city’s various barangays.

It is for this reason that Domogan, despite his overwhelming lead in various surveys over his rivals, is campaigning hard for his Timpuyog line-up.

His slate includes Bernardo M. Vergara for congressman, Danny Farinas for vice mayor and the candidates for councilor: Nicasio Aliping Jr., Erdolfo Balajadia, Patrick Dangatan, Sonia Daoas, Elmer Datuin, George Dumawing, Mabini Maskay, Nicasio Palaganas, Raffy Panagan, Arturo Quilop, Lourdes Tabanda and Edilberto Tenefrancia.

During the Comelec (Commisison on Elections) hour in a TV channel, Domogan narrated that when he assumed as city mayor in 1992, the city had just been devastated by the Killer Earthquake of 1990. “It was because of the good teamwork between and among then Congressman Vergara, our office (Mayor’s Office) and the city council being led by then Vice Mayor Farinas that we were able to rehabilitate the city from the rubble,” he said.

And we were not just able to rehabilitate the city but we were able to bring the city’s economy into track and the tourism industry into new heights, Domogan explained.

Among the accomplishments of the Vergara-Domogan-Farinas tandem in the 90s are the City Camp Lagoon tunnel that solved the perennial flooding there, the phenomenal three consecutive years of winning the Cleanest and Greenest Highly Urbanized City award in the country catapulting the city into the Hall of Fame, the concreting of major city and barangay roads, the improvement into all-weather roads of national highways leading to the city such as Naguilian Road and Marcos Highway.

With a set of officials focused on addressing pressing issues hounding the city, we will be able to succeed, he added. Domogan is running on the following platforms-- environmental rehabilitation particularly addressing the garbage and pollution problems, tourism enhancement, expanded health services, infrastructure development, and market development; better peace and order, water supply, education and sports.
