BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya– A high school student has been tagged as a suspect in the killing of an elementary school teacher, whose body was found on a vacant lot in Sanchez Mira, a northern town in Cagayan on Sept. 30.

Chief Insp. Josel Pagulayan, Sanchez Mira police chief, said the slain teacher, Oscar Saanen, was last seen having a drink with the suspect and another teenage student in the town’s Callongan village a day before the victim’s body was found.

“While having a drink, the suspect and the victim left together, leaving behind their companion.

Later, according to a witness, the suspect came back partly naked and with scratches on his body,” he said.

Reports said Saanen was repeatedly hit by a hard object, which caused his death.

Police have yet to establish what drove the student to kill Saanen. “Until now, the suspect refuses to talk and remains mum about what happened,” Pagulayan said.
