Judge convicts bizwoman, pusher for illegal drugs

BAGUIO CITY – A 56-year-old businesswoman was recently convicted here about a year and five months after she and her younger brother were arrested in a raid at their residence in No. 70 Purok 2, Lower Quirino Hill here or drug-related violations.

Judge Antonio C. Reyes, presiding judge of the First Judicial Region Regional Trial Court Branch 61 here found Gloria Borce Del Mundo Del Mundo guilty beyond reasonable doubt of possession of dangerous drugs.

Del Mundo here brother Willy Cabonilla Borce were each sentenced to 12 to 20 years in prison and a fine of P400,000.

The regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency office said both had been members of a long existing and wide-ranging local drug group in the Cordillera.

They were apprehended on Aug. 19, 2009 during the implementation of a search warrant at their house by regional PDEA agents.

The search warrant was issued by Judge Edilberto Claraval of RTC Branch 60, First Judicial Region.

Seized were shabu, marijuana hashish, drug paraphernalia and live bullets for a Cal. 45 pistol.

Witnesses said Borce usually showed off a gun especially if he was drunk or high on drugs.

Gloria Del Mundo, married, businesswoman and native of Abra, was apprehended earlier by Baguio City police on July 4, 2006.

She was then nabbed with another kin, Richard Borce Guieb when they sold a gram of shabu to the policeman who posed as buyer.

They were acquitted on August 1, 2007 by Judge Reyes, the same judge who convicted her this time.

Meanwhile, Willy Borce, 46, married, construction laborer of Baguio City, had been previously convicted and served 13 years at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

The criminal cases for illegal drug violations and illegal possession of ammunition, against Borce are still being heard before the RTC in Baguio City and the Fourth Branch of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities respectively.
