Benguet villages get P2.4million Philex projects

TUBA, Benguet — The management of the Philex Mining Corporation here turned over to its thousands of beneficiaries in barangays Camp 1 here over P2.4 million worth of hard and soft infrastructure projects that will help contribute in sustainable host communities and contribute to nation-building.

The projects are funded from the mining company’s social development and management project for this year for development of communities hosting operation of the mines.

Included in the projects that were turned over to the communities were a 2-classroom schoolbuilding for the Ligay Elementary School; suspension bridge, parapet wall and concrete water tank in sitio Soyucto; masonry wall with box culvert in sitio Abiang; two tire paths in sitio Temore; and another tire path in sitio Gangit.

Eulalio Austin, Philex senior vice-president for operations and resident manager, said the company is committed to implement its identified soft and hard infrastructure projects which are beneficial to the host communities in order to help improve the living condition of people and spur economic growth in the far flung communities.
