P2.2M marijuana seized in La Union

BURGOS, La Union -- Authorities have seized P2.2 million worth of marijuana bricks in a buy-bust operation here last week.

Police said suspected drug pushers identified as Diego Gigisan, 29, and NeliaTayog, 45, both of Sablan, Benguet, were arrested during the operation.

Joint teams from police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency confiscated from the suspects a total of 100 bricks of dried marijuana leaves valued at P2.2 million based on standard set by the Dangerous Drugs Board considering that the value of one brick is P25,000.

The two suspects are included in the illegal drug watch list of the police in Ilocos region.

Both suspects are now in jail while the confiscated marijuana bricks are now in the custody of the PDEA.
