Baguio City Spring Festival outstanding citizens honored

BAGUIO CITY – The Filipino-Chinese community honored four outstanding citizens of the city during the Spring Festival main program last Jan. 21 at the Hotel Supreme.
The awardees:
Estrella B. Tano in the field of public service having served as a dedicated government employee for 41 years. She is the former city assessor that initiated the computerization of the records of the Assessor’s office and Geographic Information System at the tax mapping division. She continues to be active in outreach programs in the religious sector and in the Zonta Club benefiting the indigents of the city;
Donna C. Rufino, proprietor of Star Café’ for business. She has active involvement in various community programs and projects which directly contributed to the improvement of the welfare and being of the indigents. Ms. Rufino is currently a member of the Baguio General Hospital Advisory Board;
Joe O. Zhang, the manager of 45 Auto Supply for community service having served in various community service programs
and projects. He is a recipient of the Tiok Lim and APCU awards; and
Engineer Antonio R. Caluza for community service. He is the chairman and a past president of the Baguio Benguet Public Information and Civic Action Group (BB-PICAG), a member of the Zoning board of Baguio and a member of the executive committee of the Regional Development Council. He volunteers his services in several working groups benefiting the communities in Baguio and the Cordilleras.
The awardees enjoined residents to be like the water dragon that rarely lets an opportunity pass by or slip away and willing to share his ideas and actively cooperate with others to reach the goal, that is, the development of the City of Baguio.
The Lunar New Year celebration was chaired by Peter Ng assisted by Paul Go and Engr. Marc Janssen Pe as vice chairmen; city administrator Carlos Canilao, police director David Lacdan and administrative assistant PepitoAvena as action officers; William Ang and Jose Tahan, overall coordinators; and Jeff Ng, assistant overall coordinator.
