Four men nabbed for illegal guns in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Four residents of this capital. city were arrested here last week at a checkpoint for possession of high powered guns.

A police report said police led by Chief Insp. Jomaric B. Felinaarrested James G. Billet, 25; Jimmy G. Bunga, 43; Gabriel E. Agawa, 29 and Miing D. Awing, 29, all residents here of Barangay Bulanao Centro for violation of Presidential 1866 (illegal firearms.)

Investigation disclosed on Jan. 23, troops established mobile checkpoints along the provincial road particularly in front of the Diocesan Building, Bulanao, in relation to the tension between the Mangali and Lubo tribes.

During the checkpoint, a blue multi cab pick-up with plate number JBY-267 was flagged down wherein two shotguns and one M-16 rifle were noticed inside the said vehicle.

Upon verification, the above named suspects presented firearms license for the 2 gauge 12 shotguns.

However, the M-16 rifle had an expired license while the suspects failed to present permit to carry firearm outside residence that led to their arrest.

On Jan. 24, a case of Violation of PD 1866 was filed before the office of the provincial prosecutor in Tabuk against the suspects.

Suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of Tabuk City Police Station.
