Jueteng still on in Cordi; 2 arrested

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- -- Jueteng operations are still on in most provinces of the Cordillera including Baguio City despite the creation of a police regional task force to stop the illegal games.
Latest to be arrested were two kubradors in this nearby capital town for collecting jueteng bets on April 10 at Alapang Junction.

Arrested persons were identified as Clement B. Garoy, 50, of Barangay Bahong, and Jones B. Martinez, 28, of of Barangay Alapang.

Confiscated from the suspects were jueteng bet collections amounting to P2,165 and jueteng paraphernalia.

Suspects were detained at the La Trinidad police station. Other jueteng-infested towns in the province have been identified by sources as Buguias, Mankayan, Tuba, Itogon, Atok and Tublay.
Jueteng- affected provinces have also been identified as Kalinga and Abra.
