RDC presents Cordillera autonomy draft in Kalinga

CITY, Kalinga – The Regional Development
Council in a recent information campaign, has presented the Third Organic Act
working draft in the province.
Conducted
jointly with the Provincial Teachers Congress, the discussions focused on
salient points of House Bill 5595 and Senate Bill 3115 – bills seeking for the establishment of Autonomous Region in the Cordillera.
In
his message, Regional Development Council chair and Kalinga Gov. JocelBaac said
creating an autonomous region in the Cordillera would improve the region.
Kalinga
Rep. Manuel Agyao, on the other hand, said to get support of the public, there
is a need for massive information,
education campaign and consultation for the people to know, understand and
appreciate better the provisions of the Organic Act.
To
achieve this, all sectors he said must take part in the consultation for a more
comprehensive discussion on the issues especially at the grassroots level.
With
this, he urged stakeholders especially the professionals, teachers, local
officials, religious sectors, non-government organization, the business sector
and several others to unite in educating and informing the people for the
region to finally achieve its aspirations through autonomy.
All
the provisions in the 3rd Organic Act he said were s formulated for the
development of the Cordillera and its people. -- PIA
