CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Local School Board (LSB) teachers
here urged Mayor Oscar “Oca” Rodriguez to investigate and remedy the nearly
three-month delay in the salaries of LSB teachers under the Department of
Education (DepEd) Division Office in Barangay Sindalan, this city.
The teachers claimed that apart from the delay to their salaries,
they also question the increasing deductions from their salaries as supposed
taxes collected by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
“Basta nalang kaming tina-tax ng hindi naming alam kung ilang
percent or wala man lang dokumento na nagpapatunay na ganito kalaki ang
LSB-teacher salary deduction or tax namin (We are being taxed without the
percentage indicated or any document shown to us that LSB teachers have this
much tax),” said one of the teachers.
Teachers who compared their salaries and taxes said they were
confused why they had varying salaries between P15,000 and P18,000 but were
taxed the same amount of P3,000.
They said Rodriguez should be concerned and assume responsibility
for finding out why their salaries were delayed since it is the city government
and the DepEd Division Office which funds and dispenses their salaries.
