Driver escapes death by jumping from falling
truck
KABAYAN,
Benguet – The driver of an Elf truck luckily escaped death when he jumped from
the vehicle while it fell down a 700-meter ravine.
Police said
the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. of June 7 when the vehicle fell down the
mountainside here at Sitio Insajat, Barangay Gusaran, Kabayan, Benguet.
The owner of
the vehicle was identified as Seth
Techap of Gusaran while the driver was named as Eses Gumabay, 25, small scale miner of Sitio
Insajat, Gusaran.
Investigation
disclosed that said truck was loaded with soil while backing on a steep road at
the place.
The driver
stepped on the brake in preparation to change gear but it malfunctioned making
the vehicle fall down a garden with its back hitting the ground while the
driver jumped off from the truck.
No one was
reported injured during the incident while the canter elf was badly damaged.
P.8M marijuana confiscated from Sadanga fruit
dealer
BAGUIO CITY
– Some 33.84 kilos of marijuana were confiscated from a lady marijuana dealer
during a recent sting operation here by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–
Cordillera Administrative Region.
The
confiscated 42 blocks of marijuana worth P845,885 were wrapped in newspaper,
bound by packaging tape and placed in three cartons.
A PDEA
report said the apprehended marijuana dealer was identified as Thelma F.
Bongabong, 28, a fruit vendor.
The report
said Bongabong hails from Saclit, Sadanga, Mountain Province and resides in
Upper Pinget, Baguio City.
She was
arrested around 12:30 a.m. June 8 at Upper Asin Road., Baguio City, where she
traded the marijuana blocks to an undercover anti-narcotic agent of the PDEA –
CAR.
Bongabong was
a charged before the city prosecutor for illegal drugs.
Cordillera cops nab 8 wanted persons
La Trinidad, Benguet – Seven wanted persons were arrested by police authorities
in separate police operations regionwide during the first week of this month.
Abra police
arrested an 18- year old jobless man inside the Don Quintin Paredes Hall of
Justice, Bangued, Abra for two counts of murder with no bail recommended.
He was
identified as Rommel Berona Soriano, a resident of Zone 2, Bangued.
Also
arrested in their respective residences in Zone 7, Bangued, were Sonny Sonny Caliagan
Gumano, 25 and Ronnel Alberto Caṅete, 20, both charged for malicious mischief.
In Barangay
Bilabila, Sallapadan, Abra, JeronGandeza Damian was arrested for the
reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries.
The arrested
persons had a recommended bail of P 10,000 each except Soriano.
In Benguet,
La Trinidad police arrested a person for robbery with violence or intimidation
of persons with a recommended bail bond of P100, 000.
He was
identified as Romy Pagatit Gacayan, 21, laborer who was arrested in his
residence at Bayabas, Pico, La Trinidad.
Another
wanted individual was arrested in Kesbeng, Poblacion, La Trinidad.
He was
identified as Chariston Anton Oyas, 35, farmer and a resident of Parapad,
Ambiong, La Trinidad.
Gacayan was
arrested for grave threats with a recommended bail bond of P12, 000.
In Ifugao,
police arrested two wanted persons. They were identified as Elvin Bulayo, 26, a
resident of Bolar, Duit, Kiangan for frustrated murder and a 16- year old
minor, resident of Agaban, Amduntog Asipulo
for rape.
All arrested
persons are now under the custody of concerned municipal police stations except
Chariseton Oyas who was released after posting bail.
Taxi driver held up, stabbed
BAGUIO CITY
– A taxi driver was seriously hurt when he was stabbed by one of three men out
to rob him of his day’s earnings.
Police
arrested about 12:30 a.m. on June 9 arrested one MarloSidoro, 24, of Bucayan,
Acupan, Itogon, Benguet for robbery with violence committed along Siapno Road
Pacdal, Baguio City.
The victim
was identified as Harry Pelila, 27, taxi driver of Balili, La Trinidad,
Benguet.
Investigation
revealed police were conducting patrol when they chanced upon ongoing robbery
inside a taxi parked her along the road.
They immediately arrested the suspect while
his two cohorts later identified as Robinson “Perper” Tayaban and Peter Paul
“Pepoy” Podes, both residents of Itogon, Benguet, scampered to different
directions and evaded arrest.
Recovered
from the suspect was a stainless fan knife with blood stains.
The victim
sustained stab wound on his neck and was rushed to Baguio General Hospital
Medical Center by police.
Police
conducted follow-up operation in Itogon to
arrest two other suspects but they were nowhere to be found.
Sidoro is
now detained at the Baguio City Jail.
Former policemen faces complaint for cutting trees
SAGADA,
Mountain Province – A former policemen was the object of complaint for
allegedly cutting six fully grown trees in the land of a certain Jaime Gac-ey Dogao,
72.
Criminal
charges for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or illegal logging law were
set to be filed against the former cop identified as Teodoro Aluyen Sad-en, 54,
retired Philippine National Police
member and resident of Barangay Ankileng here.
The case for
violation of PD 705 reportedly transpired around 9:20 AM of June 5.
Sagada
police and the community environment office of Sabangan town, near place of
incident confiscated the lumber that
were already hauled and stockpiled along the road to Balintaugan in
Bauko town.
Sawn pieces
of lumber valued at P12,649 were brought
to the CENRO Sabangan office for inventory.
Man nabbed for murder
BANGUED,
Abra – Police led by SPO1 Arnel C. Regalado arrested Rommel Berona Soriano, 18
of Zone 2 here June 6 for two counts of murder.
This, after
an arrest warrant was issued against Soriano by Corpuz B. Alzate, presiding
judge of Regional Trial Court with no bail recommended.
Arrested
person is now under the custody of Bangued police.
Minor nabbed for rape
LAGAWE,
Ifugao – Asipulo town police led by Senior Insp. Michel B. Bongtayon arrested
June a certain Joubert Bahingawan Bumulo, 16, of Agaban, Amduntog, Ifugao
for rape.
The suspect
was arrested in Bimpal, Lamut town after
a warrant was issued for his arrest by Judge Ester Piscoso Flor of RTC, Lagawe
who recommended bail of P120,000.
Bumulo was
incarcerated at Asipulo police station.
Businesswoman
loses P45,000 to “stick” thieves
BAGUIO CITY
– A certain Evelyn Talena, 44, businesswoman was victimized by still
unidentified suspect/s in her residence at Barangay Old Site Bakakeng on June
6.
Investigation
disclosed that while the victim was sleeping in her room, suspects used bamboo
sticks by extending the same on the open window and took the shoulder bag of
the victim which was placed on top of a shelf.
The victim
discovered her bag and its contents scattered outside her house at about 6 a.m.
same day. Her cash of P45, 000 and one PS Bank Credit Card were missing.
Police
lifted finger prints at the site which they said would be checked.
Charges filed against Cordillera Security
Force for grave threats
BAGUIO CITY
– Charges were filed against a member of a “security force” at the prosecutor’s
office for grave threats.
A police report said around 8 a.m. of June 5, Mujie Paraan Batalao,
28, appeared at Police Station 8 and said
on May 13, while he was tending his sayote farm here at Mangitit, Camp
7, when one Johnny Dam-otDanason, 45, of Pinukpok, Kalinga and reported member of Cordillera Regional Security Force
(CRSF) with a gun tucked on his waist together with three unidentified male
companions arrived and uttered to him in vernacular:
“Haan ka umumay ditoy ta baka mapaltugan ka, nu agsublika, panunutem karkaro
adu kayo dita a pamilya, ibagam nu sadinu ti pagsasabatan tayo, isu met lang nga
saan kayo a maki membro kadakami. (Don’t come here or you could be shot.
Bear in mind you have a lot of family members. Tell me where we could meet,
since you don’t want to join our group.) ”
Woman, ‘paramour’ arrested for adultery
BAGUIO CITY
– A married woman and her paramour were arrested by police here for adultery on
complaint of the husband.
A police
report said Liza Camba Villasper, 29, married and his paramour Sony Boy Delos
Santos Martinez, 29 were arrested around 8 a.m. of June 5 Youngland,
Camp 7.
Investigation
disclosed that at about 6 p.m.of May 23, Villasper left his husband
Marcial Mendoza Villasper, 33, in their residence at Sarok, Camp 7 bringing
along with her their 7-year-old boy and went to live with Martinez.
Both were
detained at the city jail on order of Prosecutor Nemia C Peralta.
A case for
adultery was filed against Ms Villasper and Martinez .
Drunk college student robbed of phone, P3k in
waiting shed
LA TRINIDAD,
Benguet – A dead-drunk college student was robbed of his C2 cell phone and
wallet with P3,000 while sleeping at a waiting shed along km 5, Barangay Pico
around 1:45 on June 10.
The victim
was identified as Simeon S. Dinggo, 20,
student, native of Mabalite, Tadian, Mountain Province and resident of Parapad, Ambiong, La Trinidad.
Investigation
revealed unidentified suspect/s slashed the right side pocket of his pants
while he was sleeping then took his valuables including important
documents.
Man mauled by drinking mates
TADIAN,
Mountain Province – A man was mauled here by his drinking mates last week.
Police said
at about 2:26 a.m. on June 10 Joseph Lamnao Asprer, resident here reported to
police he was mauled by Andi Meing and
Friderico Pol-ocan, both residents of this town.
Investigation
revealed that prior to the incident, the victim went to the residence of
Pol-ocan in Sitio Bulala, Kayan East, purposely to have a drinking spree.
After
consuming one bottle of Matador, Meing accuses the victim of stabbing his older
brother sometime in 2010 and they started mauling him.
The victim
sustained physical injuries on his face and was rushed to Luis Hora Memorial
Hospital but later discharge medical treatment.
Waiter shot dead at waiting shed
BAGUIO CITY
-- A waiter was shot dead by a still while waiting for his friends at a waiting
shed at Barangay Gibraltar here around 10:50 p.m. of June 7.
The victim
was identified as Ricky M. Orlanda 24, waiter, residing here at Ali House of
Shawarma, UpperPias, Camp 7, Kennon Rd.
Investigation
revealed that the victim and company came from a birthday party at Gibraltar
after which they decided to go home on foot.
While at the
waiting shed waiting for one of their companions a gunshot was heard hitting the
victim at the back portion of his body.
The victim
was rushed to a city hospital wehre he was pronounced dead around 12:45 am. of
June 8, by Dr. Paul L. Ponadon.
Responding
police personnel scoured the area for the gunman but it proved futile.
Canteen robbed of P12,000, valuables
BAGUIO CITY
– The Roxas Elementary School Canteen here at Barangay Sto. Rosario
was robbed
of P12,000 and a computer hard driver worth P3,000 around night of June 6.
Proprietor Jeroth
T. Montero, 30, married, told police around 4:30 p.m. that day, he locked their
rented canteen and went home then went home.
The next
day, he discovered the window of the canteen was open and a portion of the flat
GI sheet of the window was cut.
The suspects
reportedly took the money placed in a bucket and the computer part.
Three young men mauled outside La Trinidad
bar
LA TRINIDAD,
Benguet – Three men went inside the Midtown Bar here below the provincial
capitol to have a good time night of June 7 but mauled around 11 p.m. when they
got out of the establishment by still unidentified five perpetrators.
Police
identified the victims as Henry Kudan, 31; Daryll Pal-iwen, 17, both of Barangay
Puguis and Denver Diza, 21.
Diza was
accompanied by his mother when he, along with other victims, reported the
incident to the police station.
A Police
report said the victims’ five companions were inside their vehicle when six
unidentified males mauled them .
Diza‘s jaw
was broken while his companions, sustained minor injuries.
Man collects debt, takes cookies instead
BONTOC,
Mountain Province – A businesswoman, resident of White Village here complained
to police a man who wanted to collect debt from her took her crackers
instead.
Investigation
revealed suspect Cyril Magkachi Sawi, 37 of Foyayeng, Bontoc Ili, went to the
store of the complainant Janice Lardizabal Wangdali, 33 around 9:30 a.m. of
June 6 and asked payment of the latter’s debt lent by her mother.
While they
were conversing, Sawi reportedly suddenly took away four plastic containers of
Yummy Biscuit worth P268per piece with a total value of P1,072 and left the
store.
Man hacks drinking buddy
DANGLAS,
Abra – A drinking spree turned bloody here around 9 p.m. when a man suddenly
hacked his drinking mate here at Sitio Banbani, Barangay Padangitan.
The victim
was identified as Reynaldo Rosario Pensayo, 41, while the suspect was Narciso
Martinez Jose, 52, both residents of the place.
Investigation
revealed that the victim and the suspect were having a drinking spree beside
the house of a certain Hino Bringas when without any reason, the suspect pulled out a bolo and
hacked the victim hitting his back right shoulder.
The victim
was rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment and discharged
later.
The suspect
voluntarily surrendered to Danglas police.
Tricycle driver ‘robs’ 3 minors of phones,
cash
BUGUIAS,
Benguet – A robbery hold-up was reported which transpired here along Lamagan,
Abatan by three minors, all residents of
Barangay Catlubong.
The victims,
told police a certain Romeo Quintania, 24, of Lutheran,Abatan called the
victims to ride on his tricycle and while on their way, ordered them to alight
after taking their cellular phones and cash amounting to P500.
A cellular
phone was recovered from the suspect whichwas positively identified by one of
the victims.
Police
report didn’t say if a case was filed against Quintania.
Man delivering softdrinks mauled
BAGUIO CITY –A
man delivering Pepsi softdrinks was punched for no reason by a resident at
Lourdes Extension Subdivision.
A police
report said around 9:30 a.m. of June 7, in
the area, Edward Porquillano, 31, of Slaughter Compound was punched by
Kits Ocawe, of legal age and resident of Lourdes Extension.
Investigation
showed while the complainant was bringing softdrinks to a store, the respondent
suddenly punched him on the chest.
The case was
referred to Lourdes Extension barangay officials.
Man arrested for frustrated murder
CALANASAN,
Apayao -- Police arrested here June 7 a certain Richard Austria, 29, of Barangay
Sta Filomena for frustrated murder.
This, after
a warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Francisco S. Donato of Regional
Trial Court, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on
April 24.
Austria was
turned- over to the court and later incarcerated at Cagayan Provincial Jail
Extensionin Sanchez Mira.
2-year-old run over by van killed
PINUKPUK,
Kalinga – A 2-year-old boy was killed here June 6 when he was run over by an
unattended van
Police
report said the incident happened about 4 p.m. at Barangay Ammacian.
The victim
was identified as Jan Jerald Ramirez, 2 yrs. old; son of Milagros Ramirez.
Investigation disclosed that the
Delica Van was parked unattended at the side of a steep road
where the victim and her sister were in but the vehicle moved forward.
The movement
made the victim fall from the right front door of the van and was run over
by the rear tire resulting tosevere injury of his left face.
The victim
was rushed to Pinukpuk District Hospital but declared dead on
arrival by the attending physician.
P 95K
illegal lumber confiscated in Apayao
LUNA, Apayao
-- Personnel of the Apayao Police Provincial Office confiscated a total of
95,791.46 pesos worth of illegally cut lumbers with a total volume of 6,747.99
board feet last week.
Senior Supt.
Albertlito Garcia, provincial police director said illegally cut lumber was
confiscated in Luna, Flora and Calanasan towns.
A chainsaw
was also confiscated. A police report didn’t say if illegal loggers were
arrested.
Bocap shot dead in ricefield
LAGAYAN,
Abra – A barangay chief here was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman on
June 6 around 5:30 a.m. here.
Police
identified the victim as Trium Pajo Donato, 42.
Initial
investigation disclosed that the victim was on his way home from his rice field
when he was fired upon by still unidentified person resulting to his death.
The gunman
immediately fled to unknown direction after the incident.
Police
recovered 20 fired cartridges of Cal. 7.62mm rifle at the crime scene.
Man stabs nephew who suffers serious injuries
VILLAVICIOSA,
Abra – A man is now being hunted by police after he stabbed his nephew who
suffered serious injuries.
Police
investigation disclosed that at about 10 pm. of June 6, victim Mark Carlito Bumagat,
22 and his cousin Jovit Rogecio Villon were eating at their house in Barangay
Lumaba when Jerry Rogecio, 40, the
victim’s uncle, farmer who was drunk came.
He took a
knife and without any apparent reason stabbed the victim on his neck and left
shoulder.
The victim
was brought to Villaviciosa Medicare Community Hospital for medical treatment
but later transferred to Seares Memorial Hospital, Bangued, Abra for further
medical treatment.
The suspect
immediately fled after the incident and now the subject of manhunt operation.
Weapon used was not recovered.
Taxi driver held up; P3K, cell phone taken
from him
LA TRINIDAD,
Benguet -- A taxi driver was robbed of his earnings here worth P3,000 and his
cellphone by three still unidentified hold-uppers.
Police said
the incident happened around 10:35 p.m.
of June 6 in Dreamland Subdivision, Barangay Pico.
The victim
was identified as Rufino Aquino, 37 of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur and resident of
Barangay Honeymoon, Baguio City.
Investigation
disclosed the victim was driving his Toyota Tamaraw FX taxi when flagged down by
the three males in Baguio City who requested to be ferried to Dreamland.
Upon
reaching the place, one of the hold-uppers got out from the taxi and proceeded
at the driver side door while the other one seated at the driver’s back part
locked him strangled him with a seat belt while poking a Cal. .38 hand gun at him.
This while
one of their companions took his collection of P2,700.00, his wallet
containing P300 and Cherry mobile cellphone worth P800.00.
The suspects
immediately fled after the incident.
Man arrested for trying to shoot his dog
BAGUIO CITY
– A man was arrested for trying to shoot his dog.
Police said
on June 6, Insp. Gabriel Isican and his men assisted by a SWAT team led by
Chief Insp. John Paul Bayongasan and Chief Insp. Nachor Baucas responded to a
report of indiscriminate firing that transpired at 10:12 p.m. in Barangay Upper
Dagsian.
Investigation
disclosed that suspect Roberto Las Marias, 58 fired upon his own dog
hitting the window glass of a certain Angelo’s house.
Confiscated
from Las Marias was a “paltik” handgun loaded with five bullets.
