Tabuk Matagoan fest set June 24

TABUK CITY,
Kalinga – This capital city will hold its 12th founding anniversary and
Matagoan Festival set June 24 to 26 as tentative dates.
City Tourism
Officer Arlene Ethel Odiem, said “crowd drawers” would be held such as cultural
street parade, motocross, Matagoan run, Patawid agro-industrial trade fair,
agri-lympics, skills Olympics, drum and lyre competition, dornat or the rite of
re-warming the bodong (peace pact among tribes.)
Tree
planting would also be held to commemorate
Environment Month while a re-enactment production of the history of
Tabuk would also be presented.
On the first
day, a Matagoan Festival Call is slated at 6 a.m. wherein the Manpedal TakoTabuk
(MAPETAK) Bikers would be doing the rounds around town to “call” the people to
join in celebrations followed by a grand
civic parade and program at the Tabuk People’s Gym.
Also
included on the program is the Matagoan Dance Showdown which simultaneous with
the Aegis Band concert on the 24th.
Part of the
three-day event is Tourism Day which would feature the Guilom Adventure and
white water rafting tour packages.
According to
Odiem, the city government would be allotting P2 million for the event, which
aims to promote Tabuk City as a major eco-tourism destination in the north
through culture, environment and agriculture development.
