Cordillera PNP chief
warns vs drug syndicates in schools
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Illegal drug syndicates are now eyeing high
school students as clients of illegal drugs due to their being adventurous and
eagerness to try everything.
This was bared by
Cordillera police chief who said he instructed his men to be alert against drug
syndicates with opening of classes.
He ordered setting up
of police assistance desks in school campuses and having their presence felt in
schools, malls and other areas of convergence.
He urged support of
school officials and concerned sectors to help in fight against illegal drugs while encouraging
the public to report or provide information to authorities regarding illegal
drug activities in their areas through the social media.
Nerez said school opening last week in the
region was peaceful and orderly indicating that action plans and coordination
with the school administrators and other sectors were effective.

Another
Benguet mishap: 23 hurt
BAKUN, Benguet -- Twenty-three passengers,
including two babies and nine minors, were hurt after their vehicle lost its
brakes and overturned while negotiating an uphill portion of the mountain
highway here May 31, disaster officials said.
Last week, two people
were killed and 13 others were injured when a truck and a sport utility vehicle
plunged into a ravine in separate incidents in Buguias and Tuba towns, both in
Benguet.
Man nabbed for gun; bocap
on the run
TABUK CITY -- A resident of BarangayLanna
here was caught in possession of a Cal. 38 revolver at a checkpoint in Barangay
Calanan in this city.
Senior Supt. Victor K.
Wanchakan, Kalinga OIC provincial police director said the arrest of the
suspect Domingo Malsi Baraquioa.k.a “Elpidio”, 62, was made possible
through information from concerned citizens.
He is now under the
custody of the police while charges are being filed against him.
Still in Tabuk, a Cal.
9mm, Tanfoglio with SN AB28654 and magazine loaded with 25 bullets was seized in the residence of barangay Chairman Jerry
Carag Doctolero May 22 following a search warrant.
Operating units of the
Kalinga Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, Provincial Public
Safety Company, Regional and Provincial Intelligence personnel, who served the
search warrant issued by Judge Victor A. Dalanao of the Municipal Trial Court
in Cities, Tabuk City, Kalinga, did not find Doctolero in his house during the
operation.
Security guard nabbed for chasing brother
with a gun
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet-- A security guard
was arrested for illegal possession of firearm Tuesday morning while chasing
his brother with a gun.
Benguet police
director Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin identified the suspect as Quirino
Sab-it Padtoc, 30, of Las-igan, Mankayan, Benguet, resident of western Buyagan,
La Trinidad.
Police seized from the
suspect a Cal. 38 revolver.
Laborer nabbed for
threatening Baguio businessman with gun
BAGUIO CITY -- A laborer was arrested
for threatening a businessman with a gun here along Padre Zamora St. here
Monday morning.
Senior Supt. Rolando
Miranda, city police director identified the suspect as Edwardo Timmango,
47, resident of Km. 2, San Luis here
while the businessman was named as Nover Kidicdian, 37, of Quezon Hill
Extension.
The victim’s wife
reported how the suspect suddenly pointed a firearm to his husband’s stomach
while about to board a taxi.
Police in area took
notice and arrested Tabbango confiscating his Cal.38 revolver loaded with four
bullets.
Five marijuana
plantations in Kibungan, Benguet burned
KIBUNGAN, Benguet – Marijuna worth P7 million
was burned here last week in five plantation sites.
Joint operatives of
Kibungan police and Benguet Provincial Public Safety Company found and
destroyed 18, 250 fully grown marijuana plants and seedlings during an
operation.
Man chops off hand of
victim; lands in jail
MANKAYAN, Benguet – A man was jailed for
chopping off hand of the victim with a bolo in Busan, Culalo here night of May
30.
The victim was
identified as Ambros Gadiano, 24, of Pabileng, Tabio, Mankayan, while the suspect was identified as
Cerilo Sixto Pagusan, 42 of Busan.
Police said that the
victim was riding a motorcycle driven by his cousin ascending towards
Poblacion, Mankayan when the suspect, armed with bolo, approached them and
suddenly hacked the victim amputating his left palm.
Gadiano was
rushed to the Lepanto Hospital in PacoMankayan, Benguet for medical treatment
while Pagusan was arrested by police,
Confiscated from the
suspect was the bolo, assorted bullets and and a knife.
Female cook stabs man in
restaurant
BUGUIAS, Benguet -- A female cook stabbed a
man inside a turo-turo restaurant in Barangay Abatan here night of June 1.
Victim was identified
as Raymond Lamsis, 23, of Cotcot, Bangao here while suspect was named as Mylene
Binohlan Pablo, 28, also of Abatan.
Police said the victim
was inside the restaurant when the suspect suddenly appeared and stabbed him
five times. Lamsis was brought to Lutheran Hospital for medical treatment and
later transferred to Benguet General Hospital for further medical attention
while Pablo was arrested by responding police.
Young man tries to rob
taxi driver; jailed
BAGUIO CITY – A young man was was arrested early morning May 31 in Teacher’s Village,
Sto. Tomas Proper here for hitting the head of a taxi driver whom he and tried
to rob.
The taxi driver was
identified as Robert A. Baguindoc, 38, of Tam-awan Village, Pinsao Proper here
while the suspect was identified
as Arvid John A. Angalan,18, of Teacher’s Village, Sto. Tomas Proper here.
The victim was
flagged down by the suspect along Abanao Street and when they reached the
turning point of the said place, the suspect poked a hard object on the head of
the victim and declared the heist.
The victim held the
suspect and shouted for help. Poli e on patrol arrested Angalan.
Soldier creates trouble in
bar; nabbed with gun
BANGUED, Abra -- An unruly army member landed
in jail for illegal possession of firearms after he was taken into custody for
creating trouble in early morning of June 2 inside the MS Disco Bar,here in
Zone 5.
Police brought
all persons involved to the police
station for investigation.
During confrontation, Pfc Rebushsein Babo Emeterio
Stock, 23, of the 41st Iinfantry Battalion based in Malibcong, Abra
continued to be unruly inside police office.
When police asked to
open his bag, a Cal. 45 pistol loaded with one magazine and four bullets was
found.
Stock was
locked in jail after he failed to
present documents of the firearm.
Man
arrested for rape
RIZAL, Kalinga – A man was nabbed for rape by
operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office and members of the Criminal
Intelligence and Detection Group May 30.
Senior Supt. Victor S.
Wanchakan, Kalinga police director named the alleged rapist as Ricardo Turaray.
Turaray was earlier
charged for two counts of rape in the sala of Judge Marcelino K. Wacas of
Regional Trial Court in Tabuk.
Two men nabbed in Abra,
Benguet for rape
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Two men were nabbed
last week in Benguet and Abra respectively for rape.
One suspect was
identified as Ben GeyawanLawaguey, 69,
ofPudongKapangan town and resident of Besong, Kabuyao, Poblacion, Tuba
who was arrested by Tuba police at Km 8, Kabuyao, Poblacion, Tuba.
His arrest warrant was
issued by Judge Francis A Buliyat Sr. presiding judge of RTC, Branch 9, La
Trinidad, Benguet.
Meanwhile, Jomer
Zapatero Bayabos, 23, farmer was arrested in his residence in
Barangay Patiao, Peñarrubia, Abra following arrest warrant issued by Judge
Genie G Gapas-Agbada, judge of RTC Branch 100, Quezon City” with no
bail recommended.
11 wanted persons nabbed
in Cordillera
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet – Eleven wanted persons involved in various crimes in the
region were recently arrested.
In Abra, jail inmate
and farmer Arthuro Soliven Dangatag a.k.a “Danggolo”, 59, of Calcalumadsi,
Cal-lao, Villaviciosa town and currently serving sentence for a previous case
was slapped with another case for murder after judge Raphiel F Alzate of the
Regionalk Trial Court issued warrant of arrest with no bail recommended.
Another farmer
identified as Condring Tamo Burbano, 49 was also arrested in his residence at
SitioLugit, Patucannay, Tayum, Abra for attempted murder.
Judge Nida Alejandro
of Regional Trial Court Cabugao, Ilocos Sur recommended bail of P120,000 for
his temporary liberty.
In Baguio City, a
driver wanted for homicide identified as Eduardo DilimOligario a.k.a. “Eddie”,
49, of San Agustin, Bauang, La Union, and resident of Upper Pinget, Baguio was
arrested at Upper Pinget Road after Presiding Judge Clarence J. Villanueva of
First Judicial Region of RTC Branch 7 issued arrest warrant with no bail
recommended.
In Benguet, Judge Francis A. Buliyat of the RTC Branch 9 of the 1st Judicial Region, La Trinidad, Benguet ordered the arrest of 19 year old laborer Stephen Sadaken Ng for rape in Taba-ao, Kapangan, Benguet with no recommended bail.
Two individuals were
also arrested for acts of lasciviousness with bail set at P170,000 and P30,000. pesos respectively.
Alexander Tagubat Dangayo,
42, was arrested in his residence at Pocdo, Cudog, Lagawe, Ifugao, while Arthur
Bastian Lopez, 40, farmer, a resident and native of Paco, Mankayan, Benguet was
arrested at Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
Police also arrested
for theft Sherwin Castillo Amistaso, 32, of Samal, Bataan , and resident of
Bayabas, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet.
He was nabbed along Km
5, Pico, La Trinidad, with bail set at P140,000.
Luz Batoon Madayag,
43, of Kabayan, Benguet was arrested in her residence at Buyagan, Poblacion, La
Trinidad, Benguet for estafa with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, a case for
assaulting a lawman was filed against Kelso Gallardo Rillera, 44, technician,
and a resident of Sto. Niño Bakakeng Central Baguio City following his arrest
at MOOG Loakan.
A driver/miner identified
as Rey Obina Baggit, 30, of Dilag, Tabuk, Kalinga was also collared at
Binatangan, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet for highgrading.
e-Subpoena System a boost
to police efficiency
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – The recently launched
e-Subpoena System would be a boost to police efficiency, Cordillera police
director Isagani Nerez said.
The police regional
office Cordillera, he added, is abiding with the directive of Dept. of Interior
and Local Government Sec. Mar Roxas to the Philippine National police to extend
support to the system.
Nerez said with this
system, court subpoenas will be easily transmitted to concerned parties and
ensure police compliance of subpoenas issued by courts.
The e-Subpoena System
is a joint initiative of the Supreme Court, Department of Justice and the DILG.
It was recently
launched to ensure subpoenas and court notices will reach police investigators
more easily than slow mail system.
The new system is
web-based and facilitates issuance and transmittal of court subpoenas and court
notices through electronic mail.
It is also designed
for exclusive use of court administrators and clerk of courts, PNP
administrators and court process officers which will be
helpful in monitoring police compliance of subpoenas issued by the court.
This provides an
efficient and effective feedback mechanism for the PNP to the concerned court
which will provide data for purposes of assessment and analysis of various
reports pertaining to compliances, postponement of hearings, non-attendance of
court duties and other matters pertaining to the court proceedings to be
attended by the PNP and will enhance archiving of relative documents as well as
faster documents retrieval.
Nerez said with the
new system, subpoenas and other court issues will be immediately transmitted to
concern PNP personnel thus ensuring the attendance of police officers during
court hearings to fast track court proceedings.
