Validity
of firearm licenses extended
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet - The Philippine National Police has approved extension of
validity of firearm licenses whose license will expire January to December
2014.
The
extension is one year with validity starting from expiration date.
This will
give enough time for gun holders to apply for license to own and possess
firearm (LTOPF) that will hasten renewal of license at and make the Civil
Security Group- Firearm and Explosive Office (CSG-FEO) enhance their ICT
program.
LTOPF
holders under the new law can secure from local police offices permit to
transport (PTT) for ballistics and stenciling purposes only as a requirement in
registration of firearms.
Proper
handling in transporting firearm should be strictly observed.
Cordillera
police director Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez urged firearm holders to renew
their license at through firearms explosives security agencies here at Camp
Dangwa or at Civil Security Group Satellite Office.
Registration/renewal
of applications will be accepted by FESAGS which will forward to Camp Crame
papers for issuance of license cards, aside from personally submitting all
required documents.
All
applicants need to undergo the neuro-psychiatric examination scheduled every
Monday and Wednesday 8 to 10 a.m. and interview at 1 p.m., drug test at the PNP
Crime Laboratory. Fess will be paid at Finance Service area.
A police
advisory said the public is advised to
transact business only with the FEO and/or PTCFOR personnel and refrain from
using fixers, aside from the awareness of unscrupulous persons manufacturing
fake firearms licenses and bogus permits.
Application
for firearms amnesty shall only be submitted to any of the following offices:
FEO, FESAGS of the PROs.
“Applications
with incomplete mandatory requirements shall not be received by any of these
offices and those who may want to renew their firearms can visit the nearest
provincial police office or our regional office” Nerez added.

Bomb
threat at UP Baguio disrupts classes
BAGUIO CITY — Classes
were suspended at the University of the Philippines-Baguio (UP-Baguio)
Wedneasday following a bomb threat. UP-Baguio Chancellor Reymundo Rovillos said
he received a forwarded text message from Vice-Chancellor Dr. Wilfredo Alangui
who is in Cebu around 8:55 a.m., saying that there is a bomb planted in one of
the buildings at the campus.
“We alerted
the security personnel, and sent everybody out of the campus. We also
immediately reported the text to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO),”
Rovillos said. Operatives of the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the
BCPO responded to the scene with K-9 sniffing dogs of the Philippine Air Force,
but no bomb was found.
Assassin,
companion cornered in Abra house; guns, bullets seized
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet – Police arrested an alleged assassin and seized
firearms and ammunition in the residence of another alleged member of a
gun-for-hire syndicate during Monday.
Abra police
director Senior Supt. Virgilio Laya identified the suspect as Arnold Bajo,
25, of Sitio Pao, Bangued, Abra, who allegedly shot to death Felix Taberara
Quilay, 29, driver of BAUER Foundation of the Philippines and a resident of No.
19 Creek Site, Parañaque City.
Chief Insp.
Arvin Fabro, vhief of police said Quilay was inside a tractor trailer when the
suspect shot the victim’s head and left thigh. He was brought to the Seares
Hospital by police but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending
physician.
Two helpers
of the victim who witnessed the incident said they saw the suspect, who was
with another companion flee towards Bangued town proper on board a blue
motorcycle and later were identified through mug shots in the police
rogue gallery.
A composite
team composed of personnel from the Regional and Provincial Intelligence Units,
Regional Public Safety Battalion, Provincial Safety Company and members of the
Special Action Force pursued Bajo and arrested him in a house.
A Cal. 45
pistol with seven bullets, 9mm pistol, with two magazines, and 22 rounds of
ammunition were found and confiscated from Orly Balderama Molina, 25, of
Sitio Pao, Bangued, Abra, who was inside the house with Bajo.
Bajo was
involved in a series of shooting incidents and believed to be involved in the
murder of Soni Tejero, an employee of Abreco
who was gunned down in front of his house in Barangay Poblacion Tayum,
Abra last April.
He is also
said to be responsible in the killing a fellow syndicate member who was shot to
death early this year.
Doctor
found with shotgun in ricefield
BANGUED, Abra -- A
retired doctor was arrested at a rice field here in Barangay Lipcan, Aug. 23 by
joint personnel police.
Insp.
Jonathan Mejia Abalos who led the arresting team, identified the arrested
suspect as Dr. Romeo Bisquerra Borillo, 74, of barangay Lipcan, Bangued, who
was arrested in possession of a shotgun without ammunition.
Gun
wielder nabbed in front of Baguio resto bar
BAGUIO CITY – A man
was arrested here along Lower Bokawkan Road, fronting Batawa Resto Bar in early
morning Aug 23 for holding an illegal gun.
Personnel
from the Regional Public Safety Battalion of Region 1 and the Baguio City
Police Office Station 2 arrested Roger Anton Angel, Jr., 18, a resident here of
Purok 5, Pinsao Proper for unlawful possession of Cal. 45 pistol and magazine
loaded with four bullets.
The arrest
of Angel was made possible through the help of concerned citizen who provided
information to police.
A case for
violation of Republic Act 10591 known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition
Regulation Act was filed against him.
Guns,
bullets found in house of Kalinga ‘gun-for-hire’
PINUKPUK, Kalinga –
Guns and bullets were seized early Monday morning in the residence of Hadji O.
Obal, an alleged member of a gun-for-hire syndicate reported to be operating in
the province of Kalinga, following search warrant issued by Judge Nympha
Dugayon Abbacan of the 3rd Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Pinukpuk-Rizal
Kalinga.
Members
of the Provincial Public Safety Company seized from the residence of Obal in
Barangay Bantay, Tabuk City, Kalinga a
shotgun, two rifle grenades; two M14 magazines and several bullets.
The raid
was witnessed by barangay officials and media representatives.
Lady
surrenders shotgun
BANGUED, Abra – A
certain Novelyn Bulaay Bueno, 40, of Barangay Linasin here surrendered a
shotgun to police Monday in support of police campaign against loose firearms.
Chief Supt.
Isagani R. Nerez, Cordillera police director earlier directed regional police
to intensify campaign against illegal guns to improve peace and order in the
region.
Abra
drug suspect nabbed
BANGUED, Abra ---
Police arrested a drug suspect and seized illegal drugs and paraphernalia here
in Barangay Calaba August 23.
Chief Insp.
Lou Salvador A. Claro, identified the suspect as Benjamin Meneses Almazan alias
Alvin, 27, of Calaba.
A search
warrant against him was earlier issued by Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the
Regional Trial Court Branch 1 in Bangued.
Seized from
his residence were shabu and several bullets.
Almazan
with seized items were brought to Bangued police station where cases for illegal drugs and fireams were
prepared against him.
Man,
minor land in jail for stealing cell phone from student
BAGUIO CITY -- A 24-year-old
man and his companion, a minor.
landed in jail after they were
arrested along Abanao Street here Aug. 24 for stealing and illegal possession
of deadly weapon.
PO2 Danny
Olowan Bomogao of the Baguio City Police Station-7 arrested and identified the
suspects as Christain Refuio Lapitan, 24, jobless and residing at No. 33 Upper
Fairview, Baguio City and his companion.
Both
suspects were reportedly stealing a phone inside the bag of a female student,
however, the victim noticed the actuations of the two which prompted her to ask
for help from the patrolling policemen that resulted to their arrest.
Lapitan’s
companion returned the stolen phone to the victim while a knife was confiscated
in possession of Lapitan placed inside his sling bag.
Six
drug suspects nabbed in La Trinidad buy-bust
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
-- Police arrested five individuals in a buy-bust operation here at C & A
Building here at Km 5, Barangay Balili on Aug. 14.
Senior
Supt. Rodolfo Azurin, Benguet police director, identified the suspects as
Estella Pocsom Bagangan, 25, of Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga and resident of
Dizon Subdivision, Baguio City; Revila Domingo Waclin, 29, widower, vegetable
packer, of Naybo, Central Buguias, Benguet and Eusebio Cabanes Lamsis, 63, of
Banao, Ambuclao, Bokod, Benguet and both residents of Buyagan, Poblacion, La
Trinidad, Benguet.
Also
arrested in the raid were Salvador Simeon Adais Jr, 32, businessman, native of
Loakan, Itogon, Benguet and resident of Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet; and
Lawambai Macasindel Alangkay, 42, businesswoman, of Mindanao who listed here
addresss as Malcolm Square, Baguio City.
Police
confiscated from the suspects shabu and P1,000 buy bust money.
The
suspects and pieces of evidence were brought to the La Trinidad police station
where charges for illegal druigs were prepared against them.
Farmer
arrested for shooting two men
BUCAY, Abra -- A
42-year- old farmer was arrested by police here for allegedly shooting two men
near Bugbog Elementary School here Aug. 21.
Police said
the suspect identified as Alejandro Benabese Dagdagan, 42, farmer and resident
of Bugbog, fired on the victims identified as Randy Paringit and Alex Tagura,
both residents of said place who were at the waiting shed.
Dagdagan
was arrested but no firearm was recovered from him.
Bocap,
civilian surrender guns in Abra towns
LANGIDEN, Abra -- In
support to police campaign against loose firearms, a barangay official
surrendered gun to police here on Aug. 21 while a civilian did the same in
Tayum town.
Barangay
chief Eduardo Senen Halcon of Barangay Poblacion, turned in a buckshot gun and
ammunition at Poblacion.
Meanwhile,
a concerned citizen from Bumagcat, Tayum, Abra turned-in a Cal. 22 handgun
without ammunition to Tayum police.
All
confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned police units.

nabbed for violence against women, children
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet –Police recently arrested a wanted person in Kapangan,
Benguet and 26 other criminals in the region.
Senior Supt.
Rodolfo Azurin, Benguet provincial director, confirmed the arrest of Kapangan’s
second top most wanted Person Aug. 18.
The TMWP
was identified as George Leon Tam aka “Pinol”, 56, farmer, of Libang, Pudong,
Kapangan who was charged for violation of Republic Act 7610 (Special protection
against child abuse).
Tam was
earlier sentenced to 13 years in jail as ordered by Judge Francis A. Buliyat of
the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 in La Trinidad, Benguet.
Police said
on November 2003 at Riverside, Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet, the suspect
stoned his neighbor, a minor, then tied the victim’s hands and feet with a dog
chain and a padlock.
Charged
with the same offense and unjust vexation were Laurence Visaya Ogoy aka “Ayen”
“Visaya/Bisaya’, who was arrested in his residence at Padre Zamora, Baguio
City. Dionisio Bolhayon Binwag Jr., 29, miner, a resident of Bagto Side, Ucab,
Itogon, Benguet and Kelly Besetan Alonzo, 32, a resident of Abatan, Buguias,
Benguet.
Also
arrested for same offense and for Violation of R.A. 7610 was Bernard Maat
Bignotia, 45, who was also arrested in his residence at Lower Navy Base, St.
Joseph Village Barangay Baguio City.

rape suspects cornered
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet
-- Two rape suspects were arrested in the region last week.
They were
identified as Danny Babagay Galang aka “Dan”, 33, of Magsaysay Road, Loakan
Proper, who was nabbed along Yandok Street, Baguio City.
No bail was
recommended for his temporary liberty.
Meanwhile,
another warrant was served against Junie Simmangen Reyes, 41, who was already
detained at the Abra Provincial Jail, Barangay Calaba, Bangued, Abra.

attempted homicide, Paulino Bracel Marzan, 60, farmer, was arrested in Pangtud,

Four
women jailed for estafa
CAMP
DANGWA, Benguet – Four women were recently jailed for estafa: Claudia Bayaguen
Beneto ,48, of Luneta Itogon Benguet and Leonora Umayat Linggon, 66, who was
arrested in her residence at San Carlos Heights, Irisan Baguio City.Both had
recommended bail of P 100, 000 each.
Also nabbed
for estafa were Maribeth Tolentino Santiago, 30, of Parang, Marikina City,
Metro Manila, and presently residing at Upper Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet,
who was arrested at Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad Benguet; and, Shirley
Mesina Yoshino of Binalonan, Pangasinan, who was arrested at Justice Hall,
Baguio City.

Trinidad, Benguet – Police recently arrested individuals in the Cordillera for
various crimes.
Reynaldo
Bandola Bergonia, 43, and his wife Jovie Sabino Bergonia, 40, both residents of
Pacdal Barangay Baguio City, were nabbed for bounding checks.
Chritianie
Guitabao Liked, 42, of Bauko, Mountain Province and Delia Pallarca Ordonia, 31,
of Cabanatuan City and both residing at Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet were
accosted for unjust vexation while Marilou Masedman Saingan alias
"Malou", 44, widow, businesswoman and presently residing at Poblacion
Tuba, Benguet for violation of Social Security Sustem law.
Also
arrested were Bryan Harold Yago Baysa, 18, of Sta. Rosa, Bangued, Abra for
illegal drugs with bail set at
P200,000.00; Joseph Reyes Alcanzaren, 33, who was arrested in his
residence in Subagan, Baay-Licuan, Abra for the same offense and for
violation of gun ban with total recommended bail of P220,000 and Joseph Reyes
Alcanzaren, 33, of Subagan, Baay-Licuan, Abra, detained at Abra Provincial Jail
Bangued, Abra who was served another warrant for illegal firearms with bail set
at P80,000.
Meanwhile,
Clement Batohil Garoy, 52, laborer of Anuding, Mae, Bahong, La Trinidad,
Benguet, was arrested for violation of RA 8297 ( Use of electronic commercial
and non -commercial transactions and documents) with no bail recommended.
Jose Olidan
Mendoza was also arrested in in Bakakeng, Baguio City for threats while Lydia
Benosa Zamoranos, 55, was arrested in Cabaroan, Maoay, Bangued, Abra, for
illegal recruitment.
Chief Supt.
Isagani R. Nerez, regional police director in the Cordillera, cited operating
units for the arrests.
