New Baguio City media club officers set concert for Fallen SAF

BAGUIO CITY -- The
newly elected officials of Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC),
the biggest and oldest media association in Baguio will start their activities
with a fund-raising concert for families of 14 members police Special Action
Force from the Cordillera who died in the Mamasapano massacre.
As initial project,
new BCBC president Dhobie De Guzman of ABS-CBN said through the guidance
of BCBC past president Ramon Dacawi and in partnership with Police
Regional Office – Cordillera, they are set to conduct the concert for a cause
at the University of Baguio Gymnasium March 28.
“General admission for
the concert will be P100 and all the proceeds will be given to families of the
14 slain SAF members from the Cordillera,” de Guzman said.
The new BCBC officers
recently took their oath of office before Mayor Mauricio Domogan during recent
Panagbenga Festival at Session Road in Bloom main stage.
Aside from de Guzman,
new BCBC officials are: Philippine Daily Inquirer correspondent Richard
Balonglong, vice president for print; ABS – CBN cameraman Doddie Mendillo, VP
for TV; Jordan Tablac of Bombo Radyo, VP for radio; Larry Fabian of
Sunstar Baguio, treasurer and Ofelia Empian of Baguio Chronicle as auditor.
Board of directors are
Thom Picana of Amianan Balita; Migz Velarde of Sky Cable; Roderick Osis of
Sunstar Baguio and BDBC immediate past president Frank Cimatu of Philippine
Daily Inquirer as ex-officio member.
De Guzman, in an
interview, said they will continue the traditional projects of the club
such as the annual Lucky Summer Visitor during the Holy Week
where first time Baguio visitors are chosen and given
free accommodation, tours, and courtesy visit to Baguio – Benguet
officials, among others.
They also plan to
conduct more seminars and training for BCBC members.
Meanwhile, Panagbenga
2015 media committee chair Andrew Pinero announced Baguio Flower Festival
Foundation Inc. and Hotel Restaurant Association of Baguio are each
donating P25,000 to the BCBC fund.
