Mayor assails contractors over sloppy road projects

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan
assailed contractors for ineffective implementation of road projects here which
is causing heavy traffic in this tourism resort.
During executive-legislative meeting last
week, Domogan directed the City Buildings and Architecture Office headed by
newly appointed engineer Nazita Bañez to
monitor performance of contractors in
implementation of projects.
Domogan instructed Bañez to submit a report
on deficient projects to the bids and awards committee for appropriate action
and warn the BAC not to get the same contractor in the future projects.
“Look into the contractor’s available manpower, equipment and project backgrounds before qualifying them to the bidding process to ensure efficiency,” the mayor said.

With regards big projects, he directed CBAO
to give track records of contractors for monitoring purposes.
On barangay projects, SP committee on urban planning, lands and housing chair and councilor Leandro Yangot, Jr. proposed to come up with a system to hasten preparation of programs of work and add manpower through job order appointment.
In identifying sites for a certain barangay
project, he said it is important for the city government to validate first the
site so as to avoid problem in the implementation of the said project.
