PDEA, FDA warn public on use of MJ oil

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and
Food and Drug Administration issued a joint advisory warning the public not to
buy or use hempseed oil or their varieties and derivatives from cannabis or
marijuana even as they warned manufacturers and sellers from selling
these.
The advisory
also urged the public to report and surrender these prohibited products immediately
to the FDA or PDEA.
A press
statement released by both agencies warned manufacturers, wholesalers,
distributors, importers, dealers and retailers of consumer products containing
hempseed oil or derivatives from Cannabis or Marijuana to declare sources of hempseed oil products, or their
varieties and derivatives in their labels or in writing to FDA or PDEA for
verification and investigation.
They were
also told to stop importation, sale, trading, administration, dispensation,
delivery, distribution, and transportation of hempseed oil or its varieties and
derivatives from cannabis or marijuana and
surrender
hempseed oil products or derivatives from cannabis or marijuana to the nearest
FDA or PDEA Offices or administrative or
criminal sanctions would be filed against them as provided under Republic Act
9165 and R.A. 7394.
Local
authorities were also urged to monitor and report proliferation of hempseed oil
products or their varieties and derivatives from cannabis or marijuana to the
nearest FDA or PDEA offices.
The public
can report illegal sale and distribution of hempseed oil products or their
varieties thru the PDEA website at www.pdea.gov.ph or call the local PDEA Cordillera at (074)
422-5544 and the FDA thru report@fda.gov.ph.
