‘Lando’ spells human tragedy for C. Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 3 (RDRRMC-3) reported Thursday  the final death toll from typhoon “Lando” in Central Luzon is 24.

RDRRMC-3 Chairperson Josefina Timoteo said most parts of Central Luzon whipped by the typhoon last month, with Nueva Ecija and Zambales having most of the fatalities in the region at seven each.

The other casualties were reported in Aurora and Pampanga with three each; and Bulacan and Tarlac with two each, added Timoteo.
RDRRMC-3 was also able to account for 50 injuries with nearly half of them in Nueva Ecija.

The storm also displaced 329,133 families or 1.4 million persons in 1,184 barangays in all seven provinces. There were also 4,316 reported totally damaged and 34,800 partially damaged houses.

The estimated damage to infrastructure is P556.34 million and to agriculture is P6.79 billion, the RDRRMC-3 said.
