4 SF women centenarians get P100,000

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The city government
honored the city’s centenarians with Mayor Pablo C. Ortega awarding them cash
gift of P100,000 each during the Christmas program of the Federation of Senior
Citizens Association, Inc. here.
The four
oldest living residents of this city are Masa Sobreno, 110, born on Aug. 8,
1905, of Barangay Baraoas; Elena Valdez, 110, born on Jul. 17, 1905, of
Barangay, Pao Norte; Maria Ducusin, 102, born on Jul. 13, 1913, of Barangay,
Tanqui; and Elena Martinez, 100, born on Aug. 14, 1915, of Barangay Biday.
Sobreno,
although, the oldest was still able to walk when she received her award from
Ortega.
“This is very
rare – to see some of our residents in their old age are still living strong,”
Ortega said, visibly impressed at their health.
Natividad Pelaez,
chairperson of the federation, Sally Matoza, city social welfare officer, and
Erlinda
Casuga,
federation vice-chairman, also graced the affair.
